Join us as Commissioning Engineer for the Process Automation Energy Business Area where you will be acting as ABB Excitation commissioning engineer with low to medium complexity. Ensuring completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively, in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Reporting to Commissioning Manager and this position will be based in Subang Jaya, Malaysia.

Your responsibilities

• Contributing to planning and implementation of commissioning activities. Supporting and coordinating the installation / commissioning activities with the Installation Supervisor / Site Manager
• Participating in internal project review meetings and providing inputs on commissioning activities and coordinating site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification. Identifying and recommending new effective solution to meet business and customer needs.
• Providing relevant information pertaining to commissioning assignments and meetings with customer besides giving feedbacks to the organization to apply lessons learned process. Supporting continuous improvement of project process/product/system design.
• Using standard processes to ensure all commissioning activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements. Applying, improving processes and tools in one’s technical area to ensure effective project delivery
• Conducting risk and opportunity assessments during commissioning phase to ensure implementation of commissioning plan, identifies and reports potential risks related to contract/quality/program/cost and recommends resolutions to project
• Initiating and monitoring risk mitigation plan in one’s area of responsibility and ensuring stakeholders are updated on associated technical risks
• Conducting safety observation tour regularly to report and mitigate potential HSE hazards to Project Manager and/or Site Manager
• Creating work plans and cost estimates for work in one’s area of responsibility to meet contractual obligations in alignment with Project Manager and/or Site Manager

Your background

• Degree in Engineering related disciplines with more than 5 years of experience in Excitation & Electrical Systems
• knowledge in ABB Excitation (UNITROL) & ABB Electrical Systems
• Good understanding of Excitation Systems, MV & LV Switchgears, Transformers & Protection Relays
• Experience in Maintenance / Testing & Commissioning / FAT / SAT in Excitation & Electrical Systems
• Preferable working experience in Oil, Gas & Chemical plant/ Offshore/ Power & Water Industries
• Strong written and spoken communication skills in English
• Certification on ABB excitation system commissioning will be an added advantage
• Position is based in Malaysia but require travelling & work outside of Malaysia like Asian Region, Offshore & etc.
