Global Head of Distributed Compute/CTO

Overview of HSBC and the Team HSBC operates across three Global Businesses : Wealth and Personal Banking; Commercial Banking; and Global Banking & Markets, which are supported by Global Functions and Digital Business Services. HSBC Technology is based within the Digital Business Services organization and plays a vital role in driving great experiences for customers and colleagues and enabling the bank's strategy. Role Overview : The Platform Lead Distributed Compute role is responsible for overseeing teams of infrastructure, and providing leadership, vision and direction for the Product managers. This position is responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining talent, as well as ensuring the engineering staff has the skills and capabilities to meet business needs. The role also oversees the implementation of infrastructure & software engineering initiatives for the ES organization. Also responsible for championing best practices and ensuring initiatives achieve business outcomes. The role holder may be accountable for leading the building, maintaining and 24x7 support of large-scale infrastructure and platform services that enable the functioning of products and services across HSBC, or for the execution of organization wide processes or governance. Responsibilities:

• Lead the infrastructure and product organization to successful delivery of business outcomes.
• Manage the budget, with ongoing focus on personnel, vendor, and capital expenditures.
• Build strong working relationships with Product Lines and business leaders to ensure products and engineering teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals.
• Collaborate with Chief Technology Office Exco and business leaders to develop short- and long-term strategic plans.
• Support and facilitate innovative and experimental software development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames
• Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the Distributed Compute organization
• Work with product management leadership to design, manage, and/or execute product roadmaps.
• Effective collaboration of a group of Agile/DevOps pods and teams that share a common mission,
• The Platform’s overall Product Backlog is aligned between pods and teams and is delivered through the capabilities of each technology Practice.
• Ensure that all delivery channels are integrated and optimized, auto-scaling with demand, and
• Accountable for 24x7 monitoring of production systems, ensuring service impacting alerts are executed by the appropriate support teams.
• Drive implementation, governing risk responsibly, promoting ethical management of risks and costs, for communicating changes in policy and governance effectively, and ensuring regulatory processes and procedures are adhered to.
• Provide governance for global portfolio ensuring transparency over status of aligned to Global Business / Global Functions global delivery into regions/countries.
• Accountable for service performance of end-to-end services delivered within the region (e.g., service SLA, MTTR, etc.)
• Develop workforce strategy to meet the organization’s current and future engineering needs through developing, hiring, and/or sourcing talent
• Work with the CISO and CTO Risk team to ensure infrastructure and developed software is effectively secured and that risks are mitigated
