Job Profile Banyan is hiring a General Manager with leadership and technical accounting experience to lead our important Karachi Finance Division. This Division consists of 30 professionals today with plans for rapid growth to 100 people. In this role, you will lead a strategically important and growing team of skilled accounting professionals and ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance with Banyan’s standards and processes. This role is highly coordinated with our onshore team in Canada/US. Please note that this is an on-site job based in Karachi. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to foster a high-performing and collaborative team.
- Continuously refine and optimize processes and controls to improve efficiency and precision, including a focus on professional development activities of team members.
- Enhance and maintain a robust internal control environment to ensure compliance with Banyan’s policies / procedures, safeguard company assets, and minimize fraud risks.
- Assist with new employee onboarding process (training, goal setting, succession planning, etc.) and evaluate / improve its ongoing effectiveness.
- Ensure prompt and orderly filings associated with our Karachi entity, which includes the outsourced payroll provider, external counsel and audit firm (audit findings, account discrepancies, and compliance).
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting.
- Partner with HR for in-person interviews and ensure salary grid remains up to date.
- Partner with Banyan’s Head Office Controller to support strategic initiatives and business goals, fostering strong business partnerships across the organization.
- 12-15+ years of relevant leadership and work experience, preferably leading an outsourced firm for an international company and/or senior role(s) within a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Recognized professional accounting degree.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English with strong communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Highly motivated with a strong desire for personal and professional growth, with an interest in the software industry.
- Curiosity for how businesses operate, a tenacious attitude towards research, and the ability to think and work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience with accounting ERP systems (SAGE Intacct is considered a plus).
- Highly motivated and energetic, with a keen interest in entrepreneurship, software, and finance.
- Flexible work hours, including availability from 2PM to 10PM Pakistan Standard Time.
