Job Description
About the Role GEC are seeking a Commercial Analyst to provide business partnering and commercial support to operations to drive the best financial outcomes. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for gathering, analysing and reporting on financial and operational data to produce meaningful insights, modelling, budgeting and forecasting as well as contributing to continuous business process improvements. Your key responsibilities will include:- Provide commercial support to Operational leadership team (GM-Operations, Project Managers, Senior Engineer)
- Board and executive management level project and KPI reporting
- Preparation and analysis of detailed job costing reports (weekly, monthly etc)
- Deliver insights (ie. Project profitability, variance analysis, efficiency opportunities etc) and detailed forecasting (job level) and budgeting
- Job setup, activation and maintenance
- Maintenance of cost models
- Liaise with key Business Intelligence partners to evolve quality of reporting to the business
- Develop appropriate in-house reporting utilising available systems and data (ie. Excel, Power BI etc)
- Support quoting/tendering process (ie. feasibility modelling and business case preparation)
- Support the CFO in the preparation of group level budgets and forecasts
- Provide commercial support for potential transition to new financial system ensuring the integrity of the project accounting methodologies
Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you must hold the following traits, skills and qualifications:- Bachelor of Business (Finance or Accounting)
- Minimum 3-4 years commercial post grad experience in an analyst role
- Experience working with Senior Management
- Experience with general business management and understanding of key business drivers (oil & gas pipeline industry experience strongly desired)
- Strong analytical and commercial modelling skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience in delivering insightful reporting analytics and financial/commercial information to manage business risk and opportunities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels
- Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple tasks, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment
