As part of our Maritime group, the Support Systems Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Support Systems Engineering Manager (SSEM) with the establishment of the Enterprise Support Solution for the Australian Combat Management System (AusCMS), the definition of the Support System Constituent Capability (SSCC) objectives, and for coordinating the efforts to optimise efficiencies and effectiveness to design the underlying Support System. The Support Systems Engineer will also be responsible for developing and defining requirements for subcontractor organisations who deliver part of the Support System scope of work. They will maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders including the ILS team, Combat Systems Engineering, and Project Management, as well as external customers, including the Class specific Program Office. Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the development of support system specifications, design and implementation plans.
  • Provide clear direction and scope management of support systems engineering tasks to assigned resources.
  • Ensure project outputs are developed to schedule and are of high quality.
  • Provide Support Systems engineering input into contract/subcontract scoping and negotiations.
  • As required, provide input to life cycle cost analysis for combat system acquisition and sustainment scope.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of application of the creation of a support system and underlying support solutions.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Logistics Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering practices and standards.
  • Experience in the application of relevant logistics MIL-STDs.
  • Sound understanding of the system development and the inter-relation between the SSCCs.
  • An understanding of the application of System Engineering and its relationship to Support Systems Engineering.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions.
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
