We have an urgent opening for the position of Mechanical Testing Department Head in a reputed manufacturing Industry for their Navi Mumbai location. Basic Job Description:
- He is the departmental head of the mechanical testing lab and is responsible for overall activities for the department.
- Responsible for the operation of all technical work in their respective area of activity and organizing day-to-day work by allocating work to testing personnel.
- Supervision of work carried out by personnel in the respective departments
- Responsible for understanding customer requirements and design testing as per product specifications and standard test methods.
- Manage the activities of the respective departments to see that all the samples are tested as soon as received in the lab.
- Collection and follow-up of the pending list to ensure the samples are not kept pending for more than three days.
- Interact with General Manager and Management for resources
- To review the test methods, standards, and specifications for the correctness and update them periodically and organize the procurement of the same whichever is revised or revalidated.
- To identify & develop work procedures for all testing carried out at the laboratory
- To assess periodically the requirement of manpower and other resources and report to the management of the lab need.
- To identify the minimum qualification and experience required by personnel in all areas of work
- To make a critical evaluation of technical work & personnel and deploy them properly and supervise the work carried out
- To identify training needs, organize training programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of training.
- To check the raw data records on daily basis and approve the data transfer.
- Organize the release of test reports after screening the test results and if necessary, calling for retesting.
- To identify the need for service, repairs, replacement, and recalibration of equipment to maintain quality and inform Management to take adequate action.
- Organize periodic maintenance and servicing of equipment.
- To organize periodic calibration of various instruments.
- To maintain proper housekeeping in the lab premises.
- Organize the procurement of consumables for day-to-day work.
- Organize retesting of samples where necessary.
- Periodically informing the management with respect to the requirement of technical and other personnel for carrying out the activity in time.
- Organize Third Party visits based on the sample availability after machining
- Be watchful and identify any non-conforming testing and inform the Quality Manager after stopping the activity.
- Education level and prior experience: Diploma, Graduate or Post-Graduate in engineering (Mechanical engineering or BSc Physics, etc) with at least five years relevant lab experience in a similar testing laboratory. Specific Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of testing methods that are currently in use in the Lab.
- Ability to the interpretation of data from the relevant tests.
- Knowledge of standards associated with testing and common material specifications.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and NABL requirements
