Our Client, a private clinic in Galway is seeking a Clinical Specialist Radiographer Ultrasound for full-time permanent work. The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Undertake primary responsibility for Ultrasound service: Manage day-to-day operations of the Ultrasound service and Ensure effective utilization of all resources.
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership: Take accountability for the quality of the Ultrasound service and Lead and oversee both patient service and technical aspects.
  • Contribute to policy development: Participate in the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Equipment management: Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement, or upgrading.
  • Planning and monitoring: Contribute to the preparation of plans for the Ultrasound service. Monitor and report on the implementation of plans.
  • Stay updated on developments: Keep up-to-date with clinical, technical, and professional developments in Ultrasound. Promote awareness of new developments and ensure best practices are implemented.
  • Operational reporting: Report all Ultrasound operational issues to the Radiography Services Manager.
  • Risk management: Contribute to departmental risk assessments. Identify risks and take appropriate actions.
  • Service development and improvement: Support the implementation of initiatives for ongoing service development and improvement.
  • Clinical responsibilities: Perform abdominal, gynecological, obstetric (dating), and vascular ultrasound examinations. Issue correctly phrased written reports and record findings in the RIS system. Take appropriate action in the event of anything other than normal appearances.
  • Supervision and training: Supervise less experienced staff in performing ultrasound scans. Assist in the training of radiographers, radiologists, and other disciplines in ultrasound scanning.
  • Expertise and quality assurance: Demonstrate expertise in difficult situations. Participate in routine daily inspections of equipment and quality assurance procedures. Report any defects or problems.
  • On-call responsibilities: Participate in the on-call rota of the Radiology department.
  • Perform role-related duties: Carry out any other duties assigned that are related to the role.
This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, requiring both technical expertise in ultrasound services and strong leadership and managerial skills. You Will Need:
  • Bachelor of Science or its equivalent in (Diagnostic Radiography).
  • Post Graduate qualification in Ultrasound (MSc preferred).
  • CORU registration.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience working in Ultrasound.
  • Have proven Clinical, Leadership, Project Management, Managerial & Customer Care skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
