You will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues across the nuclear R&D team, the wider EDF R&D UK, EDF nuclear services and EDF in France to ensure latest information and understandings of relevant topics are shared. You will also work alongside external stakeholders and research organisations.As a core member of the R&D Team, you will take responsibility for leading fuel R&D activities supporting the operating fleet of reactors and future reactor technologies, engage with industrial customers to understand their needs and define deliverable objectives and monitor the progress of the R&D research projects.Who you areAs the Fuel & Reactor Research Engineer, you will have a scientific or engineering background with a good understanding of reactor physics codes (MCNP, Serpent, OpenMC) or fuel technology (e.g. fuel design, fuel integrity, fuel performance modelling). It would be extremely beneficial to have prior experience of the nuclear industry.We are looking for somebody with excellent stakeholder management skills, who can build and maintain strong working relationships and work with multiple stakeholders spanning from scientific partners to business customers.
