Our client is a well well known Irish enterprise business with a national presence. The company are going through a large digital transformation journey across the business and it's a very exciting time to get involved at the early stages and make a difference. In this role you will manage a team of 7 DBA's, so strong managerial skills are important along with someone who has the capacity to be hands on from time to time. You will be involved in an on-call rota approx once a month. Responsibilities in the role involve:

• Build, maintain and support the large database estate to include core database installation, configuration and upgrade as well as implementing and maintaining advanced high availability, security and performance tuning.
• Provide expert database resource to new development projects, participating as a pro-active team member throughout all lifecycle stages from feasibility through implementation and post-implementation support.
• Participate in key periodic operational tasks including high availability and disaster recovery testing, operating system and database patching, database upgrades, database migrations and both internal and external audits
• Provide comprehensive and clear documentation for all new database builds, redevelopments, improvements, as well as for standard operational procedures.
• Respond to support incidents and requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• Build automation for daily and repeatable tasks.

Skills & Experience required:

• 5+ years technical DBA experience 
• 1 - 2+ years lead/management experience
• Azure automation and CI/CD knowledge is a strong desirable
• Knowledge of security and auditing obligations 
• Knowledge of Azure Cloud and/or OCI
