Environmental Preventive Medicine Specialist

Overview

This position will be physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP. The Environmental Preventive Med Specialist is responsible for implementing auditing/inspecting processes, collecting water samples documenting and providing analytical results. Performs risk analysis, develops programs that exceed basic regulatory Preventive Med compliance, identifies needed resources (such as personal protective equipment). Works closely with Preventive Med staff. Supports and identifies required training for employees in various operations. Submits monthly performance metrics, performs ESH inspections/audits.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

1. Prepares monthly audit/inspection calendar
2. Conducts Assessments as needed
3. Conducts Ice/Water proper operations, maintenance, and storage inspections
4. Collect Ice/ Water samples from Ice Plant
5. Ensure non-potable water and measure chlorine residuals 100% of the time, and verify labeling of non-potable water storage tanks, taps, and spigots in accordance with TB MED 576 and 577
6. Verify Water and Resource Management Plan current and accurate/applicable references
7. Verify documentation of materials and equipment supporting Water/Production
8. Identify and provide updates when there are reference changes and/or updates
9. Recreational waters (Pool) sanitary control and inspection program that is available for review and evaluation by the contracting office QAR or COR upon demand
10. Assist with Mold Assessment verifications as needed w/o desk

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. BA/BS degree or higher in Occupational Health, Preventive Med, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology from an accredited college or university or a technical certification in Occupational Health

Military background and training beneficial.

Must be able to obtain a Host Country Driver's License

Must be CAC eligible and/or the ability to obtain a CAC Experience :

Minimum of (5) years of experience with Preventive Med, Environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, Hazardous Waste Management, Pollution prevention, knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense, (DoD) Environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations. Skills :

Excellent organization skills, meet timelines, good verbal and written communication (presentation) skills

Dependable with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) Working Conditions :

Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months). Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements :

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
