Job Purpose:
- To work as part of a design team in seeing conceptual designs developed from ideas through drawing, justification to codes and standards, manufacturing, testing and support of field technicians.

- Lead Design Engineer
External Relationships
- Clients and Suppliers
Main Responsibilities
General- Assisting in the production of drawings, design calculations and the preparation of Engineering Packages for records and submission to verification bodies for approval.
- To ensure that all work is carried out to high standards and in accordance with company quality system requirements.
- To keep abreast of developments within STATS and help to ensure that the company remains seen as a leader in their field.
- Support project personnel and attend client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client needs.
- Maintaining good working relationships internally and externally with the clients.
- Be aware of codes, standards and legislation and the implication on STATS business.
Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
- To comply with STATS and Client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
- Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paper work is completed.

- Environmental Awareness
- COSHH Awareness
- Manual Handling
- STATS Internal Courses – Basic Level
Qualifications
- Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered status with IMechE or similar would be an advantage
Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
- Competence in AutoCAD, Inventor
- Knowledge of FEA and other design tools/package
- Experience in a design engineering environment
- IT skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Microsoft AX system would be an advantage

- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, team player, but be able to work on own initiative
- Ability to prioritise workload / manage workload
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent organisational skills
- Forthcoming with ideas to improve our services
- Having the ability to communicate with all levels of staff
- Established and strong interpersonal skills
