Prior's Court was set up by Founding Patron Dame Stephanie Shirley, whose vision of a centre of excellence for children with autism became reality with the opening of Prior's Court School in 1999. We have since grown to support around 90 young people with complex autism aged between 5-25 years. Since opening, our support team has grown from around 20 to 500 and we have built a reputation as a cutting edge educational, vocational, and residential facility for young people with autism. Responsibilities

  • Must have own transport. Daily commute required to Thatcham, RG18 9NU (Newbury, Berkshire)
  • Effectively manage the coordination of each young persons’ prescriptions, where they are locally registered.
  • Maintain a diary for weekly medical appointments.
  • Update records, care plans and upload letters to prior insight.
  • Attend necessary clinics and appointments where representation is requested.
  • Assist in the Coordination and booking of routine appointments for the young people.
  • When needed, assist in carrying out direct health checks to young people, e.g., Height, weights, and Blood Pressure.
  • Assist in the Coordination of additional medical appointments such as consultant and hospital appointments.
  • Assist with the coordination and running of on-site medical clinics including (but not limited to) Consultants, Dentists, Opticians, Dietitian, Immunisations.
  • Co-ordinate medication bags that accompany young people when returning home.
  • To ensure effective storage of hard and soft copies of paperwork, documents, and computer-based information.
  • Have an oversight and co-ordinate the medication for all young people at Priors Court.
  • Effectively manage and coordinate stock and prescriptions for new admissions into Priors Court
  • To regularly audit the central medication stock, ensuring all young people have access to prescribed medication.
  • To pre-empt and raise any medication shortages with the nurses, pharmacist, consultant and / or GP.
  • To alert the nursing team and homes of any informed medication shortages and / or medications that are being recalled.
  • To centrally coordinate and record the safe collection and disposal of medicines.
  • To oversee, audit and prepare weekly medicines orders from each of the homes within the Childrens Home and Young Adult provision.
  • To utilise and maintain an effective recording system [Priors Insight] for medication management.
  • Co-ordinate monthly medication deliveries with our locally sourced pharmacy.
  • Receive, prepare, and complete weekly 1st Aid orders for the whole organisation.
  • Complete orders for pre-agreed over-the-counter medications as required.
  • To complete purchase orders for general first aid and medication resources, and equipment
  • To appropriately collate and manage purchasing receipts, reporting information regularly into the finance department and Director of Wellbeing.
  • To inform and advise families of medical exemption process for any adult turning 19 years.
  • Carry out monthly checks of the defibrillator and auto adrenalin injector.
  • To hold information regarding medical exemptions for our adults [19 and over]. To advise each home’s manager of any adult not exempt to ensure appropriate payments are made.
  • To inform the finance department of any adults who are not exempt from prescription fees and request any required invoices to be sent to families / guardians.
Qualifications Credible background working within and specialising in autism and learning disability. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Level 3 in Health and social care.
