Provivi Overview Provivi™ is a California-based, globally operating AgTech company using pheromones to protect crops from major damaging insects. Our patented production method enables a step-change in the cost of manufacturing pheromones, allowing us to pioneer the use of this proven tool in high-acreage crops such as corn & rice.   Founded in 2013 by Nobel laureate Frances Arnold and Caltech scholars Pedro Coelho and Peter Meinhold, we are hiring the very best and brightest people to develop and commercialize our products. Role Description The Field Development Associate will be responsible for the development of Provivi products in India on rice, and will be associated with the prestigious project with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in rice. Duties will include evaluating products for efficacy, developing product management and deployment strategies, coordinating with other research organizations, and ensuring the needed regulatory information is created. Reports to Director, Field Development, Asia Pacific.   Location: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana (Should be able to speak Hindi or local languages).   Responsibilities

  • Maintains state of the art understanding of the growth, development, and management of key row crops, e.g. rice
  • Fully understands crop production, including fertilization, pest control, disease control, irrigation, etc. Fully understands field equipment and farmer needs.
  • Maintains state of the art understanding of target pest biology and behavior as related to pest control. Understands IPM strategies and linkage among different tools used to control target pests.
  • Designs, organizes, and conducts field trials. Includes participation in protocol development and execution in collaboration with external contract researchers and the centralized protocol program located in Santa Monica. 
  • Works closely with contract researchers throughout the crop cycle, ensures understanding of the trials and experiments.
  • Analyzes data and communicates results, including written reports. Ensures the integrity of the field research data base.
Qualifications & Skills
  • PhD or Masters degree in Entomology or equivalent. Preference would be given to PhD candidates with 1-5 years experience in crop protection.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to write clear technical reports and effectively communicate results to team members and collaborators.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues.
