Senior Agricultural Economist , (head of APAC livestock and proteins team), Food & Agricultural Commodit ie s The Team: We are currently looking for a Senior Agricultural analyst to join S&P Global Commodity Insights' dynamic Food and Agricultural Commodities team to lead the develop ment of our coverage of Asian markets. The F&AC team produces world class analysis, forecasts and data across comprehensive global commodity markets. Work schedule: Full time The role The Senior Agricultural Economist and head of APAC livestock and proteins team i s a key role in the Food and Agricultural Commodities team within the S&P Global Commodity Insights business . The role is an integral part of the overall analysis and forecasting of global livestock and proteins ( beef, pork, poultry, dairy, etc ) as well as leading the livestock and proteins analys is team based in APAC . R esponsibilities:
- Analysis of fundamental supply and demand drivers impacting global agricultural ma r kets, working with the teams covering livestock and proteins markets, with a focus on Asia and Australia/New Zealand . They will work closely with the Head of Proteins (global head of livestock and proteins ) to ensure overall quality and alignment of analysis. The role is responsible for tracking developments impacting supply/demand producers, processors, exporters, and importers in Asia .
- They will lead interaction with customers who are both based in APAC and/or seeks insights into Asian markets , presenting both APAC-specific analysis and the global analysis produced by other teams .
- The Senior Economist will convey the results of their research through a variety of outlets including internal meetings, written reports for clients, the S&P Global Commodity Insights Connect platform, formal presentations , and informal interactions with clients via conference calls and email s .
- The role must develop a high degree of expertise and develop a reputation of thought leadership within the food and commodities industry. The position also involves working cooperatively with other areas of the Agribusiness Intelligence business, contributing expertise to consulting projects and other activities as needed.
- The Senior Economist will directly manage the APAC crops team and be responsible for their performance and development, in association with the Chief Economist.
- A Masters in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or Business Administration with a n outstanding understanding of the economics of crop production, demand, supply chain , and of cash commodity markets , and passion for commodity markets and how they operate .
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural commodities markets.
- A high degree of analytic ability that can be applied across the wide agricultural crops markets; Ability to understand complex economic conditions and relate these and their implications to assigned markets and the wider supply chain.
- Knowledge of businesses located in the commodity supply chain, particularly the risks and challenges they face operating in commodity markets.
- Extraordinary intellectual curiosity.
- Ability to manage a team of analysts and be responsible for the quality of their contribution and development as analysts
- Superior written and oral communication skills in English . Additional language skills are a plus.
- Excellent MS Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
- Experience in SQL, R, and Python is a plus
