About Te Utanganui (Central New Zealand Distribution Hub) Te Utanganui is a unique multi modal distribution hub in the lower North Island of New Zealand, consisting of rail, road, air, and sea connections. Complementing the Golden Triangle (Auckland-Hamilton-Tauranga) and southern Christchurch node, Te Utanganui acts as the third node in New Zealand's national transport and freight network in the heart of the country. About the Role:  The Programme Director role is a vital position responsible for driving the implementation of the Te Utanganui Central New Zealand Distribution Hub Strategy and overseeing related projects. Working closely with key stakeholders who manage their individual projects within Te Utanganui, this role will focus on aligning projects in terms of sequence, establishing relationships between projects, and ensuring each initiative contributes to the overall progress of the program. The Programme Director will also engage in targeted advocacy, seeking funding opportunities, and developing strategies to finance projects effectively. Key areas the Programme Director is responsible for:

  • Lead the implementation of the Te Utanganui Central New Zealand Distribution Hub Strategy.
  • Align and sequence individual projects within the program to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Advocate for the program and individual projects to key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Develop and maintain strong external relationships to ensure the success of the program.
  • Seek funding opportunities and work on innovative financing solutions for the projects.
  • Prepare and deliver formal reports to the Governance Group and Programme funders on a quarterly and on a 'as required' basis to ensure transparency.
  • Maintain a high level of public visibility to reflect the values and behaviours of Te Utanganui and their partners.
Key Requirements:   We want to hear from you if you have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, commerce or similar or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management qualification or certification, Prince2 or similar.
  • Proven experience in complex infrastructure projects, preferably in distribution or logistics sectors.
  • Experience in delivering infrastructure projects and driving them forward at pace.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development of investment opportunities.
  • Experience in the development of funding applications.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain strong professional networks with the ability to influence and gain buy in.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills with the ability to successfully negotiate.
  • Flexibility to work with a changing environment and the ability to problem solve.
  • High level of cultural awareness.
