AECOM’s Transport Planning and Economics Team The Transport Planning and Economics Team includes 45 staff working across our offices in Dublin, Galway and Belfast and includes planners, engineers, economists, GIS and data specialists and project managers. Our key clients include Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the National Transport Authority (NTA), the Dublin Airport Authority and Irish Rail to whom we have provided strategic transport planning and economics services for many years. Current and recent projects include: BusConnects Programme Business Case (NTA) National Transport Model (TII) Rail Freight Strategy and Development Programme (Irish Rail) Carbon Emissions Model (TII) National Cycle Network Plan (TII) Cork Area Commuter Rail Project (Irish Rail) Mobility Hubs Strategy and Business Case (NTA) Dublin Airport masterplan and surface access planning (daa) Transport plans for various towns nationally including: Maynooth, Carlow and Killarney. Key Responsibilities: AECOM is recruiting for an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning and Economics Team in the Republic of Ireland. We are looking to enhance and grow our team with individuals with a sound technical background that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload. As a Principal Transport Planner, you will be an important senior member of our Transport Consulting Team, key responsibilities will include: Specify and manage transport planning projects and programmes, act as the face of AECOM with clients, providing advice and support and exploring business opportunities Lead workstreams with limited supervision, taking responsibility for the technical quality of the work and ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently Take responsibility for the technical development of staff, providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring Provide technical and professional mentoring and supervisory support to the team Make a major contribution to the strategic development of the team and business planning to influence the wider Transportation offer in Ireland and across Europe Manage a range of small, medium and large-scale projects as the Project Manager or Technical Lead. You will be expected to effectively communicate project and operationally critical issues in a timely manner to Directors and Clients to deliver projects within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations Support business development and major bidding activity - leading the writing and submission of tenders Assist AECOM raise visibility of its transport planning capabilities and support strategic recruitment activities to enable team growth. Minimum Requirements: Proven analytical ability in strategic planning with excellent report writing skills Strong understanding of the Irish transport sector, strategic direction, policies and guidelines Proven experience in managing teams and projects to tight timeframes Business development experience including experience of developing client relationships and successful work winning activity A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and ability to work in a consultancy environment. Qualifications Degree/Masters qualification in a relevant transport planning area such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics, spatial planning, from an accredited college or university Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant chartered professional institution such as the Engineers Ireland, CIHT or TPS Working towards professional chartership, such as the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification or Chartered Engineer (CEng).
