The Faculty of Education has a long history of productive engagement with key issues facing education in South Africa. We offer innovative, research-based teacher education programmes and run large postgraduate programmes in various disciplines in education. As part of its promotion of the scholarship of teaching and learning, the Faculty of Education seeks to appoint an Associate Professor in Information Technology (IT) Education in the Business Sciences Education Cluster. Key Performance Areas The successful incumbent will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the Faculty. He/ She will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- Conduct research and publish in the fields of Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- Construct a coherent research agenda consistent with the broad research goals of the Business Sciences Education Cluster and within the Faculty
- Promote and support research activities in the Business Sciences Education Cluster including applications for funded research, and cooperation with SSME and SLCA in research initiatives
- Provide academic leadership
- Curriculum development and assessment
- Scholarship of engagement for societal impact
- Serve on committees devoted to the development of the Business Sciences Education Cluster and faculty objectives
- A PhD in the field of Information Technology (IT) Education or Computer Science Education or related field.
- A qualification with Computer Science OR Information Systems
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in one of the following subject areas: Information Technology (IT) Education, Computer Assisted Technology (CAT) Education, Robotics and Coding Theory
- A track record of quality academic research with at least 10 DHET accredited publications related to the field of IT Education and/or CAT Education
- A record of successful postgraduate supervision of Masters and PhD students
- Evidence of expertise and national standing in his/her field of research
- Leadership experience at both departmental and faculty levels
