Accounts Assistant

ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT General Purpose Performs a range of general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions in an organization. Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities 1. General accounts receivable functions a. Prepare and submit customer invoices b. Code, post and receipt payments c. Prepare and coordinate deposit activities d. Perform all necessary account, bank and other reconciliations e. Monitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment 2. General accounts payable functions a. Check, verify and process invoices b. Prepare payments for signature c. Sort, code and enter accounts payable data d. Analyze discrepancies and unpaid invoices e. Maintain vendor files 3. General payroll functions a. Collect, confirm and process time sheets and overtime b. Verify taxes and other deductions c. Prepare and distribute payroll checks d. Track employee vacation and sick time 4. General support functions a. Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records b. Assist in month end reporting procedures c. Find and use accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies d. Track and audit petty cash e. Assist with employee expense reports f. Perform filing and general administrative tasks g.
