We're in search of a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of Finance and Operations . This senior role is pivotal in steering Oxfam Aotearoa toward its vision of a just and sustainable future. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head of Finance and Operations will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing our strategic plans. As the Head of Finance and Operations, you will be at the forefront of driving change and ensuring the efficiency of our organisational functions. Your responsibilities include:

  • Contribute actively to the Leadership Team, embodying Oxfam's values and leadership behaviors.
  • Provide senior leadership, support, and an enabling environment for the organisation.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of processes and systems for effective organisational support functions.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Provide effective leadership of the organisation's finance functions.
  • Ensure sound financial planning, controls, and reporting, aligning with Oxfam's values and international standards.
  • Direct and oversee strategic usage needs for IT and information management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and legal requirements.
  • Lead compliance management and reporting to relevant external bodies.
  • Support People and Culture resources for best practices in human resource management.
  • Oversee role grading and reporting of key People and Culture indicators.
  • Lead and provide direction and support to the Finance and Operations Team.
  • Adhere to and monitor the application of human resource policies and procedures.
  • Support the Executive Director in ensuring the Board's compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Actively participate in Oxfam Aotearoa's transformation journey.
To thrive in this role, you'll need:
  • A qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years' experience in senior management accounting or financial roles.
  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.
  • Strong strategic analysis, project management, and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practices.
