About the role The Head of Authorisations and Advisory is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the effective and efficient delivery of all authorisation regimes WorkSafe is responsible for administering. You will be a change agent by leading the centralisation of all authorisation activity and, in doing so, will lead a team that provides assurance that the authorisations regimes are effectively regulated through sector education and clear guidance; clear levels of service (both quality and quantity) for processing applications and renewals; a risk-based approach to proactive monitoring in addition to responding to complaints; making robust and consistent regulatory decisions in the public interest. Being a collaborative leader and influencer is critical. This includes working across the organisation to drive improvements in performance and culture, and building strong relationships across the public service and regulated sectors. In this role, you will:
  • Have accountability for development, oversight and operational performance of WorkSafe'sauthorisations, exemption and certification regimes whilst providing assurance that those practices are fair, consistent, proportionate and effective.
  • Have strategic oversight for the advice and services provided internally and externally relating to healthy work outcomes for Aotearoa, inline with Mahi Haumaru strategy.
  • Exercise control over access to workplaces through administration of authorisations, and ongoing compliance monitoring and auditing.
  • Maintain a strategic focus on ensuring Mahi Haumaru has access to the right technical and expert advice to support our regulatory strategy and priorities.
  • Ensure the provision of technical and expert advice can be relied on to make good regulatory decisions.

Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
