What we’re looking for: The Wonders Global HR Operations team is looking for a Director for the APAC region (Malaysia, Philippines, China, Dominican Republic). You will play an integral role on the global HR team in delivering strategic operational partnership to our local leadership in the Philippines and Malaysia, while providing partnership and insights for our business operations in China and the Dominican Republic as they expand. This role will provide the functional and regional expertise to create and scale foundational systems, policies and processes required to enable a world class employee experience. This person would ideally be based in Dumaguete Philippines but flexible on location. Travel required between Manila & Dumaguete, Philippines and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia approximately 2-3 times per year. What you’ll accomplish: (Max 8 responsibilities for IC, Max 12 for leadership)

  • You will lead, develop, train and grow an HR Operations team that is nimble and continues to bring value to Wonders as we evolve, scale and innovate, requiring us to continuously improve how we support the business and find ways to automate for speed and efficiency.
  • You will act as our policy and compliance expert for the Philippines & Malaysia, creating and maintaining employee policies, taking a modern, innovative approach to balance employee experience with legal requirements. This will include the review and annual update of employment contracts in partnership with legal counsel to ensure compliance with local requirements; in addition to local timekeeping, time off and holiday schedules.
  • You will own the Philippines and Malaysia data integrity in the HRIS as our source of truth by creating process flows, audit trails, access restrictions and other mechanisms that will ensure the information entered into the HRIS is accurate and up to date.
  • You will be process owner for all Philippines & Malaysia onboarding and offboarding of Wonders employees by partnering with key stakeholders in the business to ensure a seamless experience for everyone involved; partnering closely with Talent Acquisition, Payroll and IT.
  • You will be tasked with Philippines & Malaysia employee record keeping , by maintaining up to date employment records and proactively improving key documentation to stay ahead of legal changes.
  • You will take ownership of Philippines & Malaysia employee Company and government benefits administration by partnering with our broker to implement plans, handle open enrollments, be the point of contact for new and existing employees with medical concerns that require Wonder’s support or accommodations.
  • You will create and maintain compliant leave and accommodation practices, be the main point of contact for employees planning a leave and ensure seamless experience for our employees
One year deliverables: (for leadership roles, Max 5)
  • Assist with 2.0 of roll out of new HRIS (BambooHR) to implement and continue to utilize the system to streamline and automate HR Operations processes to enhance the employee experience
  • Lead project to review time and attendance processes for Malaysia and Philippines and design a plan to migrate to BambooHR within Q1 in partnership with key stakeholders;
  • Lead policy deep dive in both Malaysia and Philippines to ensure compliance and consistency with both local requirements and Company policy; creating a space in the HRIS to house all policies
  • Review, update and implement streamlined Philippines & Malaysia onboarding and offboarding processes with clear ownership and increased automation in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Lead project to evaluate current process for addressing timecard and payroll issues that arise and create a recommendation to deliver a more efficient and potentially automated approach
  • Evaluate the HR Operations workflows and organizational design to ensure it is structured to seamlessly support a fast paced, scaling business in the most efficient and effective way possible
About you: (Max 5 must haves)
  • You have 8+ years experience in HR Operations; ideally 3+ supporting countries in APAC;
  • You have experience as first point of contact for benefits and leave questions and partnering with a broker for ongoing maintenance and administration;
  • You have a demonstrated track record of actively contributing to or leading initiatives that resulted in the significant growth and scalability of a business;
  • You have a deep understanding of employment law, compliance, coupled with the ability to gain a high level understanding of local employment customs and practices working with internal and external resources and partners;
  • You have demonstrated ability leading and developing high growth teams
  • You have the ability to lead complex projects and initiatives that require multi-level stakeholder engagement;
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with a diverse group of employees, leaders, and external stakeholders, both remotely and in-person;
  • You have prior experience working in APAC and fluency in English (spoken and written) is required; working knowledge of additional languages used in the region will be an advantage.
Bonus points: (Max 5 nice to haves)
  • You have experience in a consumer driven industry with a passion for the customer;
  • You have knowledge and proficiency using Google Suite;
  • You have a proficient level of experience in Microsoft Excel, to include v-lookups, pivot tables and beyond;
  • You have experience working in BambooHR;
  • You have a roll up your sleeves mentality with current or prior experience working in a fast paced, collaborative, highly ambiguous environment frequently wearing more than one hat.
