Business Function Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels. Department Description The Enterprise Architecture and Site Reliability Engineering (EASRE) division is a team of architects, engineers, SRE practitioners, program managers and IT governance practitioners focused on providing guidance, guardrails, and ways to deliver better technology to DBS's customers and users. Our vision is to strive for helping business technology teams to implement and operate well designed, evolutive, innovative, interoperable systems to support DBS strategy in a robust, reliable and scalable manner. From DevOps to Standards and Guidelines, Observability to Well Architected systems, Change, Incident and Problem management, we ambition to take a holistic approach to fulfil customers', employees' and technologists' satisfaction, while fulfilling the bank's compliance obligations. The EASRE department is organized around DevOps, SRE and Enterprise Architecture supported by risk management and program management functions. To develop and enforce the EASRE practices within Line of Business Technology teams (LOBT) we are creating a Business Practice team whose mission is to blend with LOBT management teams, helping them to drive implementation of architecture and reliability group objectives and providing feedback to the EASRE department to ensure our objectives are relevant, practical, and achievable, and therefore enforceable too. About The Role Given the bank's sustained technological expansion, this role assumes a pivotal position in formulating an extensive Site Reliability framework, strategy, and standards to drive reliability engineering transformation and guide the institution in building resiliency. The primary objective is to align technology teams with business strategy while ensuring resiliency and uninterrupted services for customers worldwide and fostering innovation without interruption. Responsibilities The Head of SRE will have to build, guide, and drive a team of veteran SREs to enable the purpose of the enterprise-wide SRE function and Chaos Engineering design. You will act as a technologist at enterprise level with deep understanding of the different technology stacks, ideally with hands-on experience. The Head of SRE needs to:

  • Oversee the SRE team responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of critical banking applications and infrastructure, leveraging engineering leadership and deep infrastructure and software development expertise to drive scalable and highly reliable software systems.
  • Lead the development of innovative software engineering solutions to prevent outages, simplify the operational environment, and accelerate feature development.
  • Drive efficiency initiatives, enabling sustainable scalability and fostering innovation within the organization
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the SRE team and drive continuous improvements.
  • Work closely with development teams to improve application performance, scalability, and observability.
  • Work closely with the security team to ensure that security best practices are integrated into SRE processes and operations.
  • Establish and execute the technology strategy site reliability engineering, DevOps, SDLC, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and executives to ensure that technology initiatives for SRE are closely tied to the overall business objectives and contribute to the bank's growth and success.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to SRE initiatives, ensuring efficient resource allocation
  • Represent the bank's technology organization in discussions with external vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • Experience with high availability, high-scale, and performance systems in a large enterprise distributed environment
  • Deep understanding of service reliability engineering principles, including monitoring, incident management, and risk management
  • Experience managing large, complex production environments, preferably in a financial service organization
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering change or transformation programs, including at least one full digital transformation lifecycle
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner, tailoring the level of detail and terminology to the audience.
  • Expertise in formulating and executing multi-year strategies while also implementing tactical initiatives within a strategic framework to achieve results.
  • Proven leadership skills, creative problem-solving, and effective time management in high-pressure, dynamic environments
  • Excellent knowledge in distributed architecture, Cloud, microservices, SOA, IaaS and PaaS as related to design patterns.
  • Experience of Logging, Monitoring and Alerting framework for hybrid cloud or third-party services using AppDynamics, Splunk, Data Dog and CA APM
  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins and Ansible, GIT, Maven, Nexus, Chef, Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Concourse
