Overview

We are seeking a Data Governance Specialist to join Corporate Data Office Division of Digital Transformation Admin Area.

The Corporate Data Office is responsible for establishing and executing world-class Corporate-wide data governance to ensure all data assets are proactively and efficiently governed and managed across Saudi Aramco, to foster a data driven organization and promote data value realization in line with its strategic goals as well to adequately comply with national and international data regulations.

The primary role of the Data Governance Specialist is to lead and manage corporate-wide data governance activities as part of the Corporate Data Strategy and Governance implementation program. The position will focus on establishing and implementing the corporate data strategy, governance framework, policies, standards and practices at all levels of the organization in order to achieve the required level of data maturity and capability across the organization. Thus, enabling compliance with national data regulations, promoting a data driven business culture and enabling data value realization. The Data Governance specialist will work closely with all key business and operational areas to improve the control, quality, trust and value of core data assets and adequately meet regulatory data requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

 

  • Establish and govern keys areas within the enterprise Data Strategy & Governance Implementation Plan, including prioritization of critical data and development of key data capabilities and domains
  • Rollout an enterprise wide data governance framework, with a focus on data ownership/stewardship and improvement of data quality through changes in operational culture, processes and leveraging relevant tools and technology
  • Define roles and responsibilities, operating model for related data governance and management activities, to ensure clear accountability for data stewardship of Saudi Aramco principal data assets
  • Assist in the development, roll out and adoption of corporate data standards and guidelines across the enterprise
  • Lead and manage the implementation of one or more key data domains across the organization including data governance, data quality management, master data management, data catalog and data sharing
  • Support business areas and corporate functions in understanding and realizing the benefits of governing and managing their data
  • Support business areas and corporate functions in complying with data regulations and laws (national and international)
  • Lead and participate in relevant data governance and management forums
  • In collaboration with IT, Information Security, Digital Transformation, Business areas and other stakeholders, provide regular progress reports to the relevant Stakeholders
  • Support deployment and utilization of technology and data governance tools to support data maturity and compliance e.g. business data glossary, data catalog, master data management and data lineage.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

 

 

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems). Certifications in data governance and management (e.g. DAMA, DCAM) are preferred
  • At least ten (10) years of experience working for major global organizations, with extensive and deep data experience, including experience within a management or leadership capacity
  • Extensive experience as a subject matter expert in the data governance and management domain within a large complex organization
  • Knowledge of industry leading data governance and management practices
  • Extensive knowledge of data related governance regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
  • Candidate will have practical track records in data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Strong consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management framework, methodology and processes
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal)
