Overview

We are seeking a Environmental /Chemical engineer to join the GHG Emissions Management Division (GEMD) of Green Energy and Environmental Policy Department.

The GEMD is responsible for providing the Corporate GHG emissions inventory with the aim to account, report and track accurately GHG emissions from Company's operations, supporting Company's sustainability reporting to internal and external stakeholders and is use to inform public reporting, aid participation in mandatory and voluntary GHG programs. GEMD is responsible in leading Company's decarbonization efforts in achieving GHG reduction targets for the year 2035, Company's ambition to reduce GHG emissions from our operations, and achieve a net zero GHG emissions footprint by 2050 across our wholly-owned operated assets.

The Environmental / Chemical engineer will provide high level consultations to support Company strategies and policies in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Climate related aspects. Candidate shall oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate GHG protocol, and lead new technologies or research initiatives in the field of GHG reduction and challenges related to climate changes aspects. Engineer will also be supporting facility operations, assessing new environmental technologies for Saudi Aramco applications, updating Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures, leading environmental audits, reviewing project designs.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

 

  • Provide high level consultations to support Company strategies and policies in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) management and Decarbonization.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Corporate GHG protocol, and lead new technologies or research initiatives in the field of GHG emissions reduction, including methane.
  • Support the professional development of young Saudi engineers in areas related to environmental assessment, management, and technologies.
  • Develop business goals and identify GHG reduction opportunities,
  • Evaluate climate change GHGs emissions pathways and energy outlooks,
  • Perform research tasks of significant technical complexity, as well as developing and implementing innovative and creative technical solutions.
  • Interact with government and international entities pertaining to climate change reporting mechanisms.
  • Support facility operations in GHG minimization efforts,
  • Assess and deploy new GHG emissions mitigation technologies for Saudi Aramco operations
  • Update Saudi Aramco engineering standards and procedures, leading environmental audits,
  • Review project designs and decarbonization impact assessments studies and roadmaps,

 

Minimum Requirements

A Bachelors degree in Environmental of Chemical engineering from a recognized and approved program. An advanced degree is preferred.

Minimum of 10 years experience in GHG management including experience in GHG accounting, reporting, and assurance engagements in the Energy sector, preferable in the Oil and Gas Industry.

 

 

 

  • Knowledge and expertise of:

    • World Resources Institute (WRI) GHG Gas Protocol (accounting and reporting standard)
    • ISO 14064-1
    • IPIECA/API/OGP Petroleum industry guidelines for reporting greenhouse gas emissions
    • participation in mandatory or voluntary GHG reporting programs (i.e. EU ETS, US EPA GHGRP, CDP).
  • Proven experience in establishing and managing GHG emissions management programs at a corporate level, and support reporting requirements related to Climate Change and GHG emissions for Corporate Sustainability reports.
  • Excellent English communication skills to produce technically-sound reports and presentations.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering, Professional Engineering, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Participation in International or National committees related to GHG and Climate Change (i.e.: IPCC, UNFCC) and relevant publications is desirable.
