SALARY: R 800 000 - R 1.2 mil CTC p/a
DESCRIPTION / SYNOPSIS:
National leader in the Insurance Sector requires the professional skills of a Chief Compliance Officer to join their expanding team. The position is a "Head of Control" function which is registered with the Prudential Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for the company's compliance strategy with a strong focus on clinically ensuring the implementation of compliance processes and the monitoring of these process internally and externally. The ideal candidate must be able to think with a regulatory-hat, company-hat and company client-hat to ensure a balance approach to protect the company while allowing the business to grow.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BComm/LLB degree essentialPost Graduate Diploma in Insurance Regulation highly beneficialRegistered compliance officer with eh Compliance Institute of SA as a compliance practitionerFinancial services technical expert with relevant experience at Cat I level in the field of FAISMore than 10 years' industry experience in a life insurance compliance environment on a management level.Intricate knowledge of the regulatory environment in the insurance and financial services industriesSpecialised knowledge of the regulatory environment in the insurance and financial services industriesSpecialised knowledge and experience on the LTIA Regulations and PPR's (and future CoFI Bill)Compliance knowledge on FICA, POPIA and FAIS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To serve as the company's compliance control function and manage the compliance department personnel and budget.Guide the company on setting and ensuring a clear internal compliance strategy which is risk-based.Develop and implement an internal compliance framework (workplan) that reflects the organization's unique characteristics - compliance with legislative universe (LTIA, PPR's, FAIS, FICA and POPIA).Monitor and audit above mentioned workplan to ensure compliance with all applicable operational legislation.Strong and continued compliance focus on the company clients by ensuring sufficient oversight in relation to JR's, binders, and intermediaries.Develop and enhance the company TCF-culture to the extent that it is tangible and clear to the board and authorities.Publish regular compliance newsletters to all company clients to assist with the education and guidance of clients to ensure compliance that ultimately protects the company from regulatory risk.Implement an electronic compliance system for internal compliance management that is independent from the company's operational system.Contribute on an executive level to assist EXCO from an industry-compliance strategic perspective - preparing and presenting clear and concise compliance reports to the Board.Represent the company on compliance forums and build relationships with regulators, compliance forums and industry bodies. Provide feedback on future legislation and assist with lobbying where necessary.Interacting with regulators on compliance issues
