This allows us to simplify common automation tasks, while also supporting more advanced paths for specialized workflows, in a fast, flexible, and cost-efficient way.

We are looking for an Account Sales Representative whose mission is to find, develop, maintain, and expand, accounts as well as actively expand our customer base to meet or exceed growth targets

Why is this role important for Automata? In order to empower scientists by making automation a reality for every lab in the US, we require a sales team to go out and prospect new leads as well as cultivate meaningful relationships with current prospects

In this role you will be responsible for:

Location: Northeast / Greater Boston Area



  • Achieves quota for assigned territory through a high level of consultative sales skill, product knowledge, and application methodology.


  • Develop and maintain effective time, territory, and account management practices


  • Provide feedback to management and FAS teams on new and potential applications and competition in the marketplace


  • Ability to travel as necessary to support the assigned geography


  • Acts proactively to seek and develop new opportunities


  • Ability to utilize the CRM to facilitate sales processes and communication pipeline


  • Coordinate customer visits, demos, lunch and learns to facilitate efficient trips


  • Participates and supports national, local, and regional trade shows as required by the business unit


  • Works regularly with the service organization and FAS organization to solution effectively and assure customer satisfaction


  • Prospect and grow business in academic, biotech, pharma and clinical accounts


  • Communicating and coordinating with the field Supporting functions including our Field Application Scientists, Application Engineers, Inside Sales, Marketing and Product Teams


What it takes:



  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 3+ years of Technical Sales and/or Life Sciences Sales experience preferred


  • Experience with HTS applications, robotics, liquid handling, genomics, qPCR, NGS, Cell Culture, Genomics, protein sciences, or Immunoassays preferred


  • Previous experience in a start-up or high-growth company culture plus


  • Passionate and dedicated to selling innovative technology


  • Strong presentation skills before customers, peers, and management


  • Understand the needs of clients, and cross-functional groups to support market growth


  • Be a self-motivated team player with a proactive “Hunter” entrepreneurial attitude to drive sales


  • Tech savvy in the utilization of different programs, toolkits, and be a proven team player that can contribute to a cross-departmental team selling environment


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Time management skills and the ability to complete tasks for the roam


  • Comfortable in a start-up environment working on securing the first customers for Automata in North America


Nice to haves:



  • Experience with liquid handling automation, robotics, work cells


  • Lab experience
