We are looking for those who are passionate, share our values, and want to make a difference having fun along the way!Position Overview:mDesign has an exciting new role for an experienced SEO Copywriter to develop engaging copy for Amazon/marketplace products, website, marketing, and other content needs. You will be responsible for conducting SEO research, then developing product descriptions and other web copy that are optimized for search engines to drive traffic and sales. Our ideal candidate is a skilled writer that can combine creative and compelling writing with the needs of today’s web-based selling. Experience working on Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target.com or other e-commerce marketplaces is especially valued.The Copywriter will be a key member of the in-house creative team, working closely with Product Designers/Photographers, Sales/Marketplace managers, and colleagues from other departments to serve internal clients. This individual will be responsible for writing and editing copy across multiple channels, including digital, social, print, video, and e-commerce. You must have proven experience writing consumer-oriented, SEO-driven product descriptions, marketing content, and advertising/social copy in a consumer products company.The ideal writer will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times. He/she will continually raise the bar on creativity, writing fresh copy that connects with the desired audience and drives action.Here’s what you’ll be doing:
  • Conduct SEO research using SEMRush, Helium 10, MerchantWords and/or other tools to identify the relevant keywords/phrases for all product and sales copy
  • Develop optimized, accurate product description copy for our e-commerce channels including Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Target.com as well as: mDesignHomeDecor.com
  • Collaborate with a team of e-Commerce, marketing, product and creative staff to develop content for other marketing and web uses
  • Research, fact-check and proofread writing to ensure high-quality output, aligned with our brands’ tone, voice and standards
  • Support marketing, sales and web teams on large- and small-scale marketing projects (e.g. email campaigns and landing pages)
  • Understand the concept of full-funnel ad/marketing strategy, organized around the customer journeys of different segments
  • Write original copy and edit content for a range of marketing and communications materials in various media (e.g. ads, blog posts, newsletters, websites, social media)
  • Identify and execute the most effective communication to target different customer segments on different platforms
  • Use SEO principles to maximize copy’s ranking, reach and impact
  • Use data-driven insights to continuously improve writing
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and industry trends
  • Develop and maintain a clear and consistent brand voice
  • Source images and other content from internal and external resources
  • Collaborate with other teams, including marketing, product, website, sales and customer service to ensure brand consistency

  • Experience with creating product copy/content for e-commerce; direct experience with Amazon is a major plus
  • Specific experience writing product descriptions for consumer products and e-commerce sites

  • Ability to understand customers and the problems those customers need to solve

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing the quality of copywriting
  • Excellent time management & prioritization and ability to manage multiple requests and tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Familiarity with commonly used style guides
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, journalism or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Social media or content marketing experience a plus
  • Experience working with content management systems
  • Hands on experience in content management
