Job Outline:

Work closely with EK Engineering Base Heavy Maintenance, Base Operations and the Aircraft Appearance Centre departments to support the Aircraft Docking requirements for aircraft maintenance, repair, reconfigurations and projects. Manage all activities to ensure timely aircraft docking operations to meet Base requirements and the aircraft maintenance plan.

Plan, direct and manage all docking equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades, both scheduled and unscheduled in accordance with docking manufacturers guidelines. Liaise with Aircraft Scheduling departments for planning of maintenance windows for equipment, ensuring all such maintenance activities are planned well in advance with minimal impact on aircraft maintenance operations.

Responsible for the management, planning and recording of mandatory inspections and Proof Load tests on the equipment in accordance with Dubai accreditation Dept (DAC), manufacturers recommendations and recognised International safety standards.

Discuss, negotiate and formulate service contracts with multiple specialist contractors for various control systems, equipment and provision of requisite recurrent training for the docking department team, ensuring that appropriate levels of support are provided, whilst maintaining stringent cost control.

Manage the docking staff to ensure efficient and safe working practices and procedures are followed with regard to docking operations and maintenance, reviewing and updating Engineering Proceedure Manual (EPMs) and general safety procedures as and when required.

Continually strive to improve service delivery through critical assessment and continuous improvement of resources including: assessment of available resources and examination of future requirements (staff & equipment), planning, budgeting and organising resources and conducting internal audits of docking procedures.

Review and develop the equipment maintenance programme schedule and stock inventory levels on a regular basis to ensure optimal maintenance procedures and frequencies are adopted and that adequate spare parts and consumables are held in stock to maximise the overall availability of all equipment.

Responsible to plan the docking section annual budget, and ensure that the budget is utilised and controlled as planned. Initiate, plan and implement short and long term projects based on approved budget and in accordance with annual plan and Engineering rolling 5 year plan.

Liaise with base maintenance staff and negotiate with third party suppliers in the design, modification and upgrade of existing and future docking systems and associated equipment, in both existing hangars and new hangar projects which will include 4 nose docks for new hangars, new docking systems for hangars E, F & G, replacement docking system for hangar A, maintenance of cranes in Hangars / Workshops / Test cell & new engine shop and paint hangar tele platforms.

Fully responsible for the management, control and development of the Docking department staff, ensuring that mandatory supplier and regulatory body (GCAA) recurrent training requirements are met.

 

Capable of working under pressure and outside of normal office hours to support operations as and when required

Qualifications & Experience

 

Engineering.Maintenance Control : 8+ Years

Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) :

University degree preferably in mechanical engineering or electromechanical from a recognised university.

 

Experience experience in the field of operation and maintenance of aircraft maintenance docking systems or heavy industrial plant and equipment incorporating electro/mechanical installations, hydraulic equipment and PLC systems, including experience at a managerial level.

 

Knowledge/skills: Advanced computer skills i.e. MS Office, Outlook, Project, Power Point & Auto Cad Knowledge of aircraft heavy maintenance activities preferable.
