Job Summary and Purpose As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Production Engineer provides technical problem-solving skills for production engineering processes and planning. The Production Engineer leads work teams and oversees the production process for initial blast and painting, ensuring high quality and audit standards that comply with contract scope, statutory and code requirements, IMS procedures, design parameters, site survey inputs, specifications, stress inputs, and vendor data. Accountabilities Key Accountabilities: Implement approved departmental policies, processes, and procedures; instruct subordinates and monitor compliance. Lead and manage the workforce involved in shipwright activities to ensure completion within allocated resources and manhours. Participate in VSCC, onboard production meetings, and section reviews, raising issues related to SHEQ and production. Coordinate work progress with project managers, superintendents, other trades, and departments. Collaborate with invoicers and estimators to meet commercial targets. Supervise a team to ensure departmental activities are carried out efficiently and in accordance with procedures. Prepare accurate departmental reports to meet company and department standards. Manage subcontractor jobs by coordinating with supervisors and foremen for lumpsum and labor supply contracts. Liaise with external representatives, such as owner representatives and class surveyors, regarding product requirements, work specifications, and drawings. Initiate site instructions, technical queries, and work completion certifications for onboard jobs. Coordinate plans, drawings, enabling notes, and nonconformance reports. Check subcontractors' timesheets and invoices, approving payments as appropriate. Monitor material status and coordinate purchase requests. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental policies to maintain a safe work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations. Qualifications, Experience, and Job Skills Qualifications: ADiploma or Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Level 1 NACE certification is desirable. Experience: Experience in ship repairing and ship construction yards. Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role or similar in marine or new building yards. Knowledge of surface preparation and coating systems. Job Specific Competencies Technical Competencies: Experience in ship repair and new building yards. Knowledge of blasting standards and surface preparation. Understanding of painting specifications and classification of paints. Proficiency in various paint application methods. Ability to assess areas for blasting and painting, including quantity surveying.#J-18808-Ljbffr
