Assist the EVS Manager in leading a team of Environmental Service team members and be accountable for the day-to-day environment service operations that include housekeeping of Patient Rooms, Operation Theatres, Clinics, Public Areas, Offices, Waste management, Medical Device Cleaning, Window and Faade Cleaning, Pest Control at a large hospital.
Coordinate with Client Facility Management, Patient Affairs and Nursing staff to ensure that the cleaning and disinfecting of patient rooms and clinics are done in a safe and hygienic manner and to ensure a safe environment for staff patients and visitors, ensuring productivity and cost targets are met. Independently responsible to lead a team and manage the Housekeeping services in a small hospital efficiently and effectively within agreed operating standards and ;
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIESHEALTH AND SAFETY
Implements company's health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) policy and procedures
Ensures that cleanliness of the premises and equipment are maintained
Ensures that company and statutory cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene standards are maintained
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that the EVS team operates in a safe and efficient manner
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that the EVS team has strict compliance of the Hospital Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
Ensures manual handling and chemical protocols are followed
Ensures Company uniform is clean and personal hygiene requirements are maintained
Identifies, assesses and reports hazards and risks within the Facility, implementing the necessary procedures and policy to ensure Company standard
Conducts regular checks of all equipment, reporting any faults to the EVS Manager
Actively participates in the HSEQ Committee at the Facility
PLANNING AND ORGANISING
Responsible or assists EVS Manager for ensuring that the EVS department's contractual obligations at the Facility are met on time and on budget
Generates schedules for all areas of EVS operations
Ensures that reports and administration requirements are submitted on time as stipulated by Company Support Office
Takes an active interest in trends within the industry and makes suggestions for improvement of the operation
EVS OPERATIONS
Ensures that cleanliness and hygiene are of a consistently high standard
Ensure quality housekeeping in Royal Zones, VIP zones and staff housing areas.
Handles maintenance requirements with concerned staff and follow-up till required maintenance job is carried through satisfactorily
Responsible for maintenance and conditions of furnishings, drapes, carpets and other fittings and fixture in all zones
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that updated operations manuals are maintained across the EVS operation
Conducts daily briefings and other meetings as needed to ensure the team has the best possible results
In conjunction with the EVS Manager, sets and communicates effectively departmental goals, strategies, KPIs and procedures
Monitors and conducts checks on EVS methods
Reviews work procedures and operational deficiencies periodically along with the EVS Manager and provides possible improvements
Responsible for the Operating equipment in all EVS areas with the assistance of the Senior Supervisor and Supervisors.
Serves as a departmental representative on various Hospital committees as required in the absence of the EVS Manager.
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in being responsible for control of all equipment and chemicals for use of the EVS department
Responsible for performing any other duties requested by the Management out of normal routine but within the scope of work.
STOCK CONTROL AND MONITORING
Checks that EVS cleaning supply stores are adequately stocked
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that consumable and non-consumable goods are ordered, correctly stored and issued to the various departments correctly
Ensures purchase orders are issued and invoices checked against goods received, reporting any discrepancy to the EVS Manager
Ensures Supervisors take inventories and establish control of linen, cleaning supplies, bath-room supplies and housekeeping equipment
Ensures that regular stocktakes are conducted and inventoried against established, Facility-specific, par levels by the Supervisors and team
CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
Ensures prompt and efficient service to client, patients and visitors at all times
Ensures that the EVS team members maintain a high level of personal presentation, wearing correct uniform and offering a professional, courteous and friendly service to all Attends to complaints promptly with professionalism, providing feedback and initiating corrective action where required
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in monitoring overall client and customer satisfaction following up satisfaction survey results, comment cards, emails, letters and phone calls
Listens with empathy, finds solutions and follows through when resolving problems
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that all EVS shifts are correctly staffed at all times
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that the most suitably qualified team member is appointed in the event of a vacancy
Conducts or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that regular on-the-job training is taking place as per the agreed standard, whilst coordinating with the Learning and Development (L&D) Department
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in checking and approving all team members timesheets/payroll
Conducts or assists EVS Manager in conduct of regular performance appraisals with all team members, identifying areas for development and ensuring that all training is effective and gives recommendation for promotion, contract renewals and terminations
Assists in all recruitment of all new EVS team members
Ensures or assists EVS Manager in ensuring that all team member grievances are investigated using the correct procedure and taking the appropriate action
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
A degree or Diploma with technical qualification in Housekeeping Management)
Current First Aid Certificate (preferred, not essential)
Certificate/Diploma in Business/Management (highly regarded, not essential)
EXPERIENCE
At least 6 years' experience in a high-volume hospital, hotel or cruise ship
At least 2 years in a high volume hospital in the last 2 years
At least 2 years' experience as a team leader or management position
1 years' work experience in a hospital environment- patient food services
Desirable but not essential, at least 3 years' experience in the Middle East
Experienced in the mobilization of large projects.
