The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is seeking an intern to support the Partnerships Team on the delivery of the 2019-20 edition of the race. This internship is aimed at individuals who want to gain relevant and practical experience within the sports industry. The varied skills set that you will primarily work across and develop are:
Event management
Sponsorship and activation
Marketing and communications
Account management
Relationship management
Rights holder contract delivery
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Partnerships Team on day to day administrative activity
Report writing: Writing, creating and sending comprehensive and informative newsletters and reports using an in-house HTML marketing system and Photoshop and after each race stopover highlighting business activation during the stopover and detailing forthcoming announcements to all key contacts
Coordinating events: Researching venues, sourcing quotes for catering and suppliers for corporate events such as sailing days, business networking events, diplomatic dinners, PR and media stunts and partner activations on the global circuit
Host Port logistics: Supporting the Partnerships Team on securing the Host Port Requirements within various host ports
Managing guest lists for events: maintaining accurate and up to date guest lists, being the key contact for sending invitations, chasing RSVP's etc (this is especially important when in stopovers) and creating table plans
Assisting the race partners with day to day tasks as required such as finding venues, hotels and services in the various stopovers
Co-ordination of crew in-port events, communicating with local tour companies and managing the crew and crew supporter registration process
Collection, input and analysis of data from crew members to the feedback to the Partnerships Team and their host port partners
Assisting both the Partnerships and Race Team with the planning and logistics of overseas stopovers
To update and maintain an accurate partnership contact database
KEY INFORMATION
Location: the role will be based at Clipper Race HQ in Gosport, Hampshire
Duration: the role is available for the duration of the Clipper 2019-20 Race [July 2019 - -August 2020]
Hours: whilst based at Clipper Race HQ, you will be required to work Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700
Travel: a proportion of this role will involve international travel [attendance at some Clipper Race stopovers for example Cape Town, Whitsundays, Sanya, Qingdao, Seattle etc], whilst in port working hours will be flexible to cover the need of the event. When in port your travel and accommodation will be paid for by the Clipper Race and you will receive a daily subsistence
Package: the internship will initially pay a salary, with a commitment to a pay review after 3 months. You will also receive a company phone and laptop
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Enrolled on or recently graduated from a degree in a related discipline
Excellent IT Skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organised with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time
Good time management
Confident and able to problem solve
Able to adapt to uncertainty and flexible to change
Capable of working both in a team and independently
Proactive nature
Knowledge and experience working in Google Drive and Photoshop
OTHER
Valid driving licence is an advantage
Valid unrestricted passport
