Key Accountabilities: •Provides advanced professional and clinical leadership direction to Nurse Managers and others across department.
•Acts as an advocate for patients and families; continually reviews nursing practice to ensure that the most effective research based and timely care is provided for patients and their families. Addresses any issues that negatively impact on patient care outcomes.
•Leads and coordinates collaborative multi disciplinary partnerships working towards the achievements of constant improvement in quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Monitors patient flow for scheduled and unscheduled patients. Takes effective action to address issues with the main stakeholders. Participates through team working and collaborative partnerships in identifying and implementing solutions through evidence based practice or research to ensure continuous quality improvement.
•Serves as a change agent as necessary.
•Evaluates utilization of resources and redirects based on achievement or need. Identifies and achieves cost-containment goals within assigned area of responsibility. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of all positions across department against the primary purpose and strategic goals.
•Manages untoward incidents/complaints by effective and timely investigation ensuring lessons learnt are effectively communicated.
•Based on strategic objectives monitors the quality and quantity of the quality data and information and investigates variances.
•Leads special projects/assignments linked to strategic priorities.
•Communicates effectively with all staff in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background proactively seeking out solutions to improve communications and teamwork.
•Monitors staff satisfaction and collaboratively develops strategies to address any issues. Treats all colleagues, patients and visitors with dignity and respect.
•Promotes staff orientation aimed at developing competence and performance. Ensures the maintenance of a suitable learning environment for nursing students and new staff to develop their competence.
•Establishes and achieves targets for Qatarization in areas of responsibility, consistent with the Family Centered Services strategic plan.
•Develops and sustains own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness and maintains a professional profile. Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position.
•Ensures staff are encouraged to access clinical evidence in a timely fashion to positively influence their care delivery.
•Interprets information from research and utilizes research findings in the development of standards, policies and procedures.
•Promotes a culture and environment which facilitates lifelong learning within the multi-professional team. Assists in promoting and sharing knowledge via mentorship in line with relevant research and evidence based practice. Promotes role development and redesign, ensuring safety, accountability and the continuing development of all staff’s skills and roles.

•Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of Family Centered Services annual strategic plan. Works in partnership with Nurse Managers to define and clarify the strategic direction. Communicates a shared vision across department.

•Builds trusting, collaborative relationships with staff, peers, other disciplines, ancillary services, physicians, vendors and community leaders to achieve clinical, financial and quality objectives across department.
•Leads the achievement of successfully implementing clinical information systems at department level.
•Promotes a safety culture across department. Develops clinical governance, managing clinical and non clinical risk and health and safety across the department and actively encourages patient involvement.
•Supports recruitment activities including candidate screening, participating in interview selection and the onboarding of new staff. Actively welcomes new staff/students to department. Participates in retention activities.
•Manages the performance and development of Nurse Managers and other direct reports. Guides the professional development of department staff. Conducts periodic organizational assessments to identify succession planning issues and establishes action plans.
•Supports and contributes to Nursing Research.
