The purpose of this role is to provide Commercial oversight and review of projects in the Middle East Region of AECOM by providing commercial support to bids, projects in their start up phase, and existing projects. The primary function of the role will be to support the Commercial Director to significantly upgrade the commercial acumen of AECOM Middle East. The scope will include the regular review of projects, and the provision of support to project teams to develop robust estimates at completion and assessments of earned value, as well as the identification and management of commercial opportunities to drive improvements in profitability. The role will also support bid teams by providing oversight and review responsibility for the production of cost models, add value by creating effective financial structures, and evaluating the commercial terms to look for ways to increase the profitability. In addition the role may be required to provide commercial support to major projects at their inception to ensure that the project is commercially focused from the outset. The role will co-ordinate closely with other corporate functions such as Finance, Legal, Contracts, HR, and the Office of Risk Management. There will also be a high degree of interaction required with the local management teams in country.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To help drive the project review process within AECOM Middle East.
Providing commercial guidance to project staff.
Supporting the Commercial Director to standardize the approach and tools used by projects to monitor and control their performance.
Seeking opportunities to improve project profitability, and then supporting and tracking the project team’s performance in delivering these opportunities.
Working with the various bids and proposals teams to create financial models to support bids and proposals.
Evaluating bids to ensure that they are financially and commercially complete within the deadlines required.
Liaising with other corporate teams such as finance, legal, HR and the office of risk management to provide all financial and commercial inputs into bids and proposals.
Carrying out detailed analyses of live projects, and reporting on the issues and findings from both a commercial and finance compliance perspective.
Conducting, where appropriate, detailed project audits.
Conducting “after action” project and bid (both successful and failed) reviews to identify lessons learned, and disseminate as appropriate.

Minimum Requirements
The applicant should be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel, hold a minimum of 10 years experience working in finance, commercial, or legal functions for a blue chip multinational contractor, developer, or consultant and have preferred Middle East experience. The role will require some travel within the Middle East region in the future.

Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management and a minimum of 3-5 years post qualification in Accountancy, Chartered Surveying, or Law e.g. ACCA, ACMA, CPA, MRICS, LLB is required.
