The position is based offshore on the Wellhead Maintenance vessel, wire line vessels, Barges and rigs servicing the Idd el Shargi North and South Dome Fields operated by Occidental Petroleum of Qatar (OPQL). Wellhead Maintenance personnel may be utilized on PS1 (central processing facility) when required, e.g. when the weather conditions prohibit access to remote jackets.
Perform general maintenance and repair activities (hands on) on all mechanical equipment on the wellhead jackets; perform routine well operations (open/close, well tests, sampling, etc.); operate fluid gathering and distribution systems; and assist, advise and oversee operations on remotes by Drilling, Construction, Commissioning and Wire line Teams. Insure all operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, are in compliance of all OPQL procedures and management systems and that efficient productivity is achieved through the effective use of all available resources. Closely work with other fellow workers from own and other departments to accomplish effective cross training.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct "hands on" participation to execute all day to day operations listed below (but not limited to):
Well operations - open, close, well testing, acquiring data, shifting of well flow streams within a manifold system, understanding of pressure equalization in respect to well operations.
gathering system operation - operating of valves in oil/water/gas gathering pipelines, and water and high pressure gas distribution systems, install and be custodian of isolations in same systems;
Maintenance activities on offshore locations including, routine and non-routine, breakdown and shutdown.
To carryout leak off test on various types of wells.
Maintenance and operation of High pressure pumps.(eg: Calder pump)
Chemical handling and filling.
Maintain and carryout periodic checks on rigging equipments.
Maintenance of injection dosing pumps.
Capable of carrying out pig launching operations and maintenance of pig launchers.
Carry out PRM Roles & Responsibilities as per PRM PR 004
Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards set by the company. Utilize and promote the use of the company's Permit to Work System and Task Observation Programs.
Provide input to the identification and specification of the various parts and materials required for the various works.
Directly input information into the company's computerized maintenance management system or generation and organization of information for input.
As directed by the Wellhead Maintenance Supervisor, participate in the execution of activities of other disciplines (instrument or electrical) with the goal of becoming a multi disciplined technician (cross training).
A "team player attitude" is of high importance. Cooperation with fellow workers on the Wellhead Maintenance Team as well as from other departments, is a key element for the overall effectiveness of the operation, therefore this attitude must be present at all times.
In the event of an emergency, assume role as designated by the Wellhead Maintenance Supervisor or OIS (such as Investigation Team Member, Capsule Commander or Coxswain).
Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of waste material.
Be fully conversant with OPQL Emergency and Operating Procedures and all relevant Statutory Regulations. Be aware of and adhere to such regulations so as to develop a safe and efficient working environment.
Lease with station and well versed to use Radio communication in official language.
Attend Wellhead Maintenance SEHRE meetings and provide input regarding safety and welfare issues.
Report all accidents / near misses to supervisor.
Report What ifs to WHM supervisor as per OPQL guidelines.
Participate in accident / incident investigations as requested.
Complete the OPQL Competency Program for Wellhead Maintenance Mechanical Technician.
Attend HES and technical training as deemed necessary by the company.
Carry out general housekeeping clean up in area of execution of works.
Monitor all activities in area of responsibility.
This position requires a minimum educational background of high school graduate (or equivalent) and a high level of technical knowledge and skills from a recognized apprenticeship or organization. Education should include studies of technical mechanical matters for industrial applications in the Oil or Petrochemical Industry, preferably in automated and non automated valves, pumps (air and electric driven), wellhead tree valves, etc. along with a general level knowledge of process control and instrumentation, and automated control systems.
The following describes the preferred experience for this position:
Troubleshooting well operations including natural flowing, gas lifted and ESP lifted production wells and gas and water injection.
Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of petroleum process mechanical equipment including flowline and manifold valves, Well head tree valves, control & choke valves (Air/Hydraulic or motor driven), pumps (air and motor driven).
Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment associated with wellhead control panels, other emergency shutdown systems, pressure vessels, etc.
Utilization of computerized maintenance management systems to support the Preventive Maintenance Program, as well as work scheduling experience to properly handle the available manpower and resources.
Experience in interpretation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) related to offshore petroleum installations.
Work experience in interfacing with Production and Engineering department's personnel.
Knowledgeable in utilization of technical manuals and manufacturer's catalogs.
Experience with materials requisitioning procedures, materials specification, as well as in suggesting adequate stock levels for the various pieces of equipment utilized in offshore installations.
Job Position Requirements:
Minimum of five years relevant hands on experience in the Oil or Petrochemical Industry, specifically in maintenance of mechanical equipment and production operations.
Experienced in installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair works of mechanical equipment in an offshore oil production operation.
Experience with routine well operations and monitoring.
Experience in operation of oil/gas/water gathering systems and high pressure gas and water distribution systems.
Utilization of work procedures including all necessary safety precautions mandated by a Permit to Work System.
Knowledgeable in the utilization of warehouse stock inventories and in preparation of materials requisitions providing all necessary information for the timely procurement of the required equipment and materials.
Self-starter with a strong desire to deliver superior results.
Capable of maintaining good interpersonal relations with the ability to work with a multi-national workforce.
Ensure that any changes to Plant & Equipment are recorded via the MOC Procedure and carried out under the Process Risk Management Policy PRM-PY-001 and associated documents.
