This job is located in a BC Offshore School in Doha, Qatar Responsibilities Plan instruction at the yearly, unit, weekly, and daily levels, implementing school-mandated programs, instructional strategies, and assessments aligned with the British Columbia Canada Ministry of Education Curriculum to help students meet Learning Standards.Utilize effective teaching strategies and available resources to support differentiated learning for students with varying skills and learning styles, within curriculum guidelines and school-mandated frameworks.Organize enrichment activities such as field trips, showcases, concerts, plays, and productions at class or school-wide levels.Communicate assignments and objectives clearly and in an organized manner to students.Assign homework that extends classroom activities, suitable for students’ age and ability, to reinforce lessons and develop skills.Diagnose and address the needs of students struggling to meet expectations, seeking support from the School Support Program as needed.Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, informing instruction and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.Participate in grade-level and cross-team discussions to ensure consistency and enhance student achievement.Prepare report cards and conduct parent conferences as scheduled.Establish and uphold fair behavioral standards, fostering a safe and effective learning environment, guided by the school’s Code of Conduct.Supervise students during class, on campus, and at off-campus school activities.Guide and supervise classroom assistants if assigned.Maintain accurate and complete records as per school policy.Attend staff meetings, especially those analyzing assessment data for growth planning.Communicate professionally with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.Build positive relationships with parents, updating them on lesson summaries, behavioral issues, and student progress.Respect and adapt to local cultural nuances with sensitivity.Participate in professional development activities organized by the school.Attend Saturday school up to eight sessions per year.Work hours are from 6: 30 am to 2: 20 pm, with classes starting at 7: 00 am. Teachers stay until students are picked up, typically 20-30 minutes post-class. Teachers residing in school accommodation and using the school bus are expected to be on campus from 6: 30 am to 2: 30 pm.Attend weekly after-school collaboration meetings from 2: 30 pm to 3: 30 pm.Meet with parents of at-risk students as needed after hours.Perform duties outside teaching, including prep in library or IT labs, conducting entry assessments for new students, participating in staff meetings, substituting when necessary, and other related tasks.Begin the process of obtaining British Columbia teacher certification immediately upon accepting the offer, providing all required documents promptly. Report progress regularly. The school reserves the right to terminate if certification is not obtained due to non-compliance.Requirements Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.Teaching Credential/License required.Licensed teachers from BC, other Canadian provinces, or those with Elementary Certification from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa are eligible. Teachers licensed elsewhere are expected to pursue BC certification after accepting an offer.Experience in differentiated learning and student inquiry instruction preferred.Experience in ESL education preferred.International experience and respect for diverse cultures are essential.Benefits Starting salary ranges from CAD 41,000 to 58,000, based on experience and qualifications. Salary increases annually upon contract renewal. The salary is tax-free in Qatar.
