Job details
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Materials Corrosion Engineer, to be based in our Abu Dhabi office.
To provide material selection and corrosion management consultancy and technical advisory services in a technically appropriate and cost effective manner relating to material selection and corrosion mitigation for subsurface and surface hydrocarbon production, processing and transportation systems throughout their life ;
• Provide consultancy and technical advisory services relating to material selection and corrosion management strategies for integrity management of oil and gas facilities during the projected life cycle of an asset.
• Provide cost effective material selection and corrosion mitigation strategies during the engineering design phase.
• Provide support in project definition, FEED and detailed design phases during brown-field and green-field projects. Key deliverables would be the Basis for Design and Project Specification.
• Ensure that HSE matters are given due consideration in the selection of materials and the corrosion mitigation strategy.
• Ensure materials are selected in line with relevant client and international standards and specifications.
• Support evaluation and application of new technology in order to optimise future developments in terms of cost and operability. Expand the use of currently used materials where practical to reduce costs and risk of failure.
• Ensure that the background of the material selection and corrosion management strategies are understood and accepted by the client.
• Support the development, review & update of client standards and specifications.
• Actively train and encourage the development of client engineers.
Skills & Experience
• University degree in a relevant engineering discipline or metallurgy. Experience should be a minimum of 10 years in the oil & gas industry, Upstream/ Downstream particularly in production operations.
• Significant professional experience in Oil & GAS materials selection, corrosion inhibition, corrosion monitoring, failure investigation, protective coatings and cathodic protection.
• Sound background in Oil & Gas engineering, as well as knowledge in the field of metallurgy, equipment design, and corrosion degradation modes.
• Good knowledge of International codes and standards, best practices, systems
• Mastery in depth competencies in material selection (metallic & non-metallic materials), corrosion principles, metallurgy and welding, corrosion protection, corrosion management, pipeline inspection and maintenance, integrity of static equipment, cathodic protection and coating systems.
• Field experience gathered from a range of locations.
• Ability to quickly establish relationships with client representatives.
• Aware of & familiar with issues surrounding high H2S facilities.
• Experience/qualifications with welding engineering will be an advantage.
• Important soft skills include: Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to listen well, good organizational skills, self motivated to learn, successful experience working as part of a team being comfortable with change and being able to respond rapidly to it. Results oriented. Customer focused.
• A HSSE driven mindset
• Exposure to both onshore and offshore operations and/or project experience will be of an advantage. In addition, experience in working in remote field locations ( desert, tropical, arctic environments) would be an advantage. Having previous experience working in a high concentration H2S environment is essential/desirable.
