MEP Estimator

Job Title- MEP Estimator (Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing)Reporting To: Estimation Manager Work Location: Doha, Qatar Objective / Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical/Electrical Estimator to join our team.The ideal candidate will be responsible for independently preparing accurate cost estimates formechanical and electrical works, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labour, plant,and miscellaneous costs. The role includes preparing technical and commercial offers, siteassessments, value engineering proposals, and coordinating with project stakeholders toensure financially viable project delivery. The M&E Estimator must have hands-onexperience in fit-out projects and the ability to work independently while projecting realisticcost and resource requirements.Key Responsibilities• Pricing of Mechanical/Electrical works independently• Preparation of Mechanical / Electrical Bill of Quantity) BOQ) based on assumptionsfor design and build projects / tender drawing and specifications includes all works.• Quantity takes off from tender drawing• Knowledge in initial review of tender documents including scope of work, conditionof contract, contract documents, specifications and design drawing.• Preparation of tender documentation queries for consultants/clients to confirm andcollect any missing data.• Ensure full coordination between all other disciplines/trades has been carried out forexternal and internal MEP services.• Preparation of cost estimation for all works (Mechanical/Electrical) and pricing, ratebuild-up of materials, labour, plants, and other miscellaneous.• Floating enquiries and getting quotations from suppliers / subcontractors.• Clarifications to the suppliers / subcontractors, to enable them to quote.• Comparison of quotations from different suppliers / subcontractors.• Attend the price negotiation meeting with the subcontractors.• Maintain and update of approved subcontractor / supplier database.• Corresponding with consultants/authorities regarding the specification / technical and BOQ any difference to tender requirements and raise queries for clarification.• Coordination with design, planning, procurement, and other necessary departmentsfor necessary documents required for the submission.• Site visits and assessments of existing site conditions.• Attend the tender clarification meeting with clients.• Preparation of tender per-qualification item, like list of subcontractors / suppliers,cash flow chart, machinery / equipment list etc.• Identify and claim variations to client.• Preparing Value Engineering Proposals for the projects.Education• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, BSc in QS, or HD in QS.Experience• Minimum 4–8 years' experience in MEP estimation within fit-out projects.• Strong knowledge of contract forms used in interior fit-out and MEP projects.• Previous experience in site coordination and working with MEP estimations.Technical Skills• Proficiency in Auto CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and estimation software (CCS Candypreferred).• Strong knowledge of detailed shop drawings, coordination drawings, and projectdocumentation.• Ability to independently project and assess project costs accurately.• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.Core Competencies• Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and site conditionsfor accurate estimates.• Market Awareness: Knowledge of material rates, labour costs, and MEP market trends.• Attention to Detail: Ensure precision in cost calculations, BOQs, and tenderdocumentation.• Independent Working: Capable of preparing detailed estimates and projections withoutsupervision.• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordination withclients, consultants, and suppliers.• Problem Solving: Identify cost risks and propose practical solutions.• Time Management: Efficiently handle multiple estimates and project deadlines.• Collaboration: Work effectively within cross-functional teams while maintainingindependent accountability.Personal Attributes• Highly organized, disciplined, and proactive.• Professional, results-oriented, and market-aware.• Strong projection skills with the ability to "read between the lines" in tender documents• Gender: Male or Female• Age: Below 45 years old• Nationality: India, Philippines, Sri Lanka• Experience: 4–8 years in MEP estimation, preferably with Middle East fit-out exposure.• Professional Traits: Independent, analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, market-aware,and collaborative.
