Lead Developer – Word Press

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Developer to join us. To be successful in this role you will have deep knowledge and experience of developing Word Press plugins. You will have the option to choose your own hours from 32 up to 40 per week, and you can work remotely from anywhere in the world. We simply ask that you have 4 hours of crossover with UK working hours per day.

In this role you will work together with a small, global team involved in development and testing. You will oversee the development and maintenance of Updraft Plus, ensuring features are delivered to a high standard and guiding the work of the other developers.

Responsibilities

Work in PHP, Java Script and Word Press libraries to write clean, efficient and secure code

Line‑manage the plugin development team

Ensure tasks are appropriately assigned, reviewed, and completed by the team

Maintain high technical standards in the code base

Utilise the lead architect’s knowledge to achieve the best direction for the plugin

Identify priorities, resolve blockers

Act as the key point of contact for technical queries related to the plugin

Liaise with QA and Product Managers to align development work with wider business goals

Qualifications

Experience with PHP – you should have experience of developing in Word Press, specifically on the development of a plugin

Experience with Java Script – a smaller part of the role, but important

Managing other developers

Working with key stakeholders

Nice to have: experience with Git Hub / Git Lab / Git – can be learned quickly by developers used to alternatives like SVN
