Key Responsibilities: Review and validation of warehouse design: Analyze proposed warehouse structural designs for feasibility, safety, and long life. Validate design elements, ensuring alignment with civil engineering standards and industry best practices. Evaluate ground and soil conditions to ascertain foundation requirements. Technical design assessment: Collaborate with the design team to integrate civil engineering principles into warehouse projects. Evaluate proposed structural materials for suitability, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Ensure all structural components are adequately designed for load bearing, drainage, and other relevant factors. Provide detailed capital expenditure estimates for the civil aspects of warehouse projects. Collaborate with procurement teams to source cost-effective materials and solutions for warehouse construction. Review vendor and contractor bids to ensure cost and specification alignment. Space requirement assessment: Evaluate space requirements based on the warehouse's operational needs, ensuring efficient layout and optimal land utilization. Recommend and validate the placement of key structural elements to ensure smooth operations and safety compliance. Collaborate with architectural teams to finalize design plans based on structural and space assessments. Stakeholder collaboration: Engage with cross-functional teams, including Operations to ensure alignment on project objectives. Provide civil engineering expertise during stakeholder meetings, addressing concerns and providing technical justifications. Act as a liaison with local authorities for permits, inspections, and regulatory compliance. Keep abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in civil engineering related to warehouse design. Propose and implement design optimizations to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation covering design validations, structural assessments, and other relevant engineering processes. Ensure all designs and processes comply with local building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards. Requirements Key Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional engineer certification or equivalent is preferred. Proven experience in structural design, ideally within warehouse or industrial settings. Strong understanding of construction materials, soil mechanics, and foundation design. Proficiency in CAD software and structural simulation tools. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to visualize and design structural components for complex projects.
