Join to apply for the Control and Protection Engineer role at GE Vernova.Job Description Summary Control engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users' needs. The discipline executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, including identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternative system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. This process proceeds from concept to production to operation.Impacts departmental operations and is responsible for tendering and execution. The candidate shall work with associated workgroups, where applicable, to meet objectives. In this role, you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. The current role focuses on delivering ITO/OTR for HVDC & AC Grid projects, with a strong fundamental competency required in HVDC, EHV/HV designs of grid substations (AIS & GIS).Roles and Responsibilities: Protection coordination design and validation, control, protection, and sequencing strategy specifications, parameters tuning to meet grid stability criteria.Defining control system requirements for software architecture, development, and verification.Performing PSSE/PSCAD and RSCAD power system network conversion, modeling, and verification, including RTDS studies.Plant modeling in various simulation tools (MATLAB, RSCAD, PSCAD) and conducting dynamic performance studies.Designing and developing substation control philosophies, protection single-line diagrams, control and protection schemes, SCADA systems, and auxiliary supply systems.Developing technical specifications, BOQ, drawings, and calculations for tender and execution stages.Collaborating with other functions to integrate control and protection systems into project designs.Maintaining a strong understanding of electrical power systems and control software tools.Deploying engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS) as per project needs.Analyzing relay settings, coordination curves, and fault records.Providing technical support for subcontractor and equipment bid packages.Managing engineering tasks, timelines, and resources efficiently.Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant field.Fluency in English.Minimum 3 years in substation integration design and 5 years in protection, control, and auxiliary system design.Experience with protection schemes, control schematics, and relevant IEC/IEEE standards.Knowledge of RTDS/RSCAD, waveform, and fault analysis.Ability to interpret HVDC system modeling and perform dynamic studies.Proficiency with secondary engineering tools like Auto CAD.Experience in project risk management and tendering processes.Desired Qualifications: Technical problem-solving skills.Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Willingness to travel and work in diverse environments.Additional Information: Relocation assistance not provided.Seniority level: Mid-Senior level Employment type: Full-time Job function: Engineering and Information Technology Industries: Electric Power Generation This job posting is active. #J-18808-Ljbffr
