We believe success starts with a strong team, and that an inclusive and diverse workplace moves us all forward.What You’ll Do The main function of a Senior Design Engineer is to provide presales support by acting as a technical consultant to the sales team. Responsibilities include generating functional system descriptions, block flow diagrams, estimating hours, highlighting logistical challenges for consideration during pricing, and preparing equipment lists for customer proposals. Post-sales, this role supports project engineering and ongoing project consultation. The Senior Design Engineer also reviews and validates the work of Design Engineers 1 and 2.Day-to-Day Responsibilities Translate customer requirements into functional system designs Review pre-construction design and documentation Identify cabling and miscellaneous material needs; design wall plates and overlays Support Account Managers with labor and material estimates Take ownership of project installation when required Develop engineering and architectural drawings, calculations, acoustical modeling, or other data Provide ongoing engineering support and assist with project sign-off Partner with vendors to evaluate products as requested Must Haves Effective communication with internal teams, clients, and colleagues Proven business writing skills Proficiency with test and calibration equipment Support for user acceptance testing Ability to program, troubleshoot (AMX/Crestron), and diagnose complex system problems Advanced computer skills for designing, configuring, and operating AV equipment Self-motivated and capable of working independently to meet deadlines Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record meeting AVI-SPL standards Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent Nice-to-Haves Formal education in Electronics or a related field preferred At least 10 years of AV experience preferred Alternatively, 6+ years of AV experience with a four-year degree or military experience Why You’ll Like Working Here Medical benefits, including dental Paid holidays, sick days, and personal days Dynamic company culture Training and professional development opportunities More About Us AVI-SPL is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
