Land Surveyor Engineer Job Description - Junior A Land Surveyor Engineer who works with advanced equipment like 3D survey total stations, topography tools, and laser machines typically performs the following duties: Job Description: Survey Planning and Preparation: · Analyze project requirements, including the scope and objectives of the survey.· Review maps, blueprints, or aerial photographs to understand the terrain and existing features.· Plan survey activities and prepare for data collection, ensuring all tools and equipment are ready.Data Collection Using 3D Survey Total Station: · Operate 3D total stations to collect precise topographic data.· Use the total station for measuring distances, angles, and elevations.· Set up and calibrate the station for accurate readings in field conditions.· Gather data on boundary lines, land features, and other relevant measurements.Laser Scanning & 3D Modeling: · Utilize laser scanning equipment to capture high-density data points for creating 3D models of landscapes or construction sites.· Process the laser data to create detailed topographic maps and surface models.· Integrate the 3D laser data into CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to generate accurate maps and models.Topographical Surveys: · Conduct surveys to measure and map out the contours and features of a landscape.· Determine elevation differences and create accurate topographic maps for use in construction, land development, or environmental assessments.Geospatial Data Analysis: · Analyze and interpret survey data to assist with land development, planning, and construction projects.· Provide detailed reports and map representations based on field data.· Assist in designing and managing infrastructure projects, ensuring that site development aligns with regulations and safety standards.Collaboration and Reporting: · Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and urban planners to provide accurate data for design and planning purposes.· Prepare and present reports, findings, and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, or authorities.· Ensure all survey data is stored, organized, and accessible for future reference or audits.Maintenance and Calibration of Equipment: · Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate surveying equipment (total stations, laser scanners, etc.) to ensure optimal accuracy and performance.Site Visits and Field Work: · Perform site visits to verify data and make necessary adjustments based on site conditions or obstacles.· Manage field teams, if necessary, and coordinate data collection efforts.Skills and Competencies: Technical Expertise: Proficiency in using 3D total stations, laser scanning devices, and topographic survey tools.GIS & CAD Software: Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and CAD software for processing and modeling survey data.Attention to Detail: Ability to work with high precision and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.Problem-Solving: Identifying challenges in survey data and finding solutions in the field or during data analysis.Communication Skills: Clear communication with clients, team members, and stakeholders.Typical Industries: Construction: Providing accurate survey data for building foundations, roads, and utilities.Urban Planning & Development: Assisting in land development and planning for residential, commercial, and industrial areas.Environmental Engineering: Helping in the mapping and analysis of environmental features for conservation or impact assessments.Mining & Resource Management: Supporting exploration and extraction processes with precise terrain data.Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full-time Job function Management and Manufacturing Construction #J-18808-Ljbffr
