Principal Engineer (Mechanical-Rotating Equipment) - Years of Experience: 12 Job Details Category: Engineering Location: UAE - Abu Dhabi Employment Status: Full Time Employment Type: Long Term Candidate Gender: No Preference Education: Bachelors (Preference for all nationalities) Purpose & Scope Responsible for planning and task allocation within Engineering and Drafting teams, emphasizing team management, coordination, client meetings, and project documentation review. Provides high-level consultancy and technical expertise. May be seconded as Project Engineering Manager depending on project size and complexity, shifting focus from discipline expertise to multidisciplinary coordination. Responsibilities Review scope of work to determine resource needs and secure approvals. Propose execution strategies for engineering and project tasks. Plan and supervise tasks to ensure timely completion within budget and quality standards. Participate in project kick-off meetings to understand project scope and provide engineering input. Review project drawings, documentation, calculations, and manpower estimates for accuracy. Coordinate activities with other disciplines to ensure effective progress and avoid duplication. Gather and review queries, escalate issues to Project Engineering Manager. Attend progress and technical meetings, maintain client contact for problem resolution. Contribute to design review meetings with engineering expertise. Coordinate engineering inputs for project considerations. Minimum Requirements B.Sc. in Engineering, preferably M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. At least 12 years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably with an EPC contractor, in offshore upstream facilities, ancillary equipment, and associated processes. Proven supervisory record, with certifications such as IPMA or PMA preferred. Strong planning, organizing, and influencing skills. Deep understanding of process, instrumentation, piping, and electrical engineering disciplines. Knowledge of engineering software related to rotating equipment sizing and planning tools. Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Technical expertise in hydraulic processes, pumps, compressors, mechanical vibration analysis, lifting equipment, and upstream oil & gas processes. Effective communication, teamwork, and project management skills. Ability to develop project execution plans, monitor progress, and manage project interfaces.
