Description JOBSUMMARYAs amember of the property Human Resources support staff he/she workswith Human Resources employees to carry out the daily activities ofthe Human Resource Office including oversight of recruitment totalcompensation and training and development. Additionally he/shefocuses on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs ofemployees and enable business success; as well as ensurescompliance with all applicable laws regulations and operatingprocedures.CANDIDATEPROFILEEducationand Experience High schooldiploma or GED; 3 years experience in the human resourcesmanagement operations or related professionalarea.OR2-year degree from anaccredited university in Human Resources Business Administration orrelated major; 1 year experience in the human resources managementoperations or related professionalarea.CORE WORKACTIVITIESManaging Recruitment and Hiring Process Assists in the interviewing and hiring of Human Resource employeeteam members with the appropriate skills asneeded.Establishes and maintains contact withexternal recruitment sources.Attends job fairsand ensures documentation of outreach efforts in accordance with Human Resource Standard Operating Procedures.Networks with local organizations (e.g. Hotel Association andpeers) to source candidates for current or futureopenings.Oversees/monitors candidateidentification and selection process.Providessubject matter expertise to property managers regarding selectionprocedures.Partners with vendor partners toensure effective advertisement efforts are being utilized for openpositions in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidatepool.Performs quality control on candidateidentification/selection.Administeringand Educating Employee Benefits Works with the unemployment services provider to respond tounemployment claims; reviews provider reports for accuracy andcorrects errors.Prepares audits and distributesunemployment claim activity reports to propertymanagement.Attends unemployment hearings andensures property is properly represented.Ensures that department has the available resources on hand toadministeremployee.Managing Employee Development Supports adepartmental orientation program for employees to receive theappropriate new hire training to successfully perform theirjob.Ensures employees are cross-trained tosupport successful daily operations.Uses allavailable on the job training tools for employees; superviseon-going training initiatives and conducts training whenappropriate.Ensures coordination andfacilitation of new hire orientation program to generate a positivefirst impression for employees and emphasize the importance ofguest service in company culture.Ensuresattendance by all new hires and participation of the leadershipteam in training programs Collaborates withmanagement team to ensure departmental orientation processes are inplace and employees receive the appropriate new hire training tosuccessfully perform theirjob.Maintaining Employee Relations Assists inmaintaining effective employee communication channels in theproperty (e.g. develops daily communications and assists withregularly scheduled property-wide meetings).Reviews progressive discipline documentation for accuracy andconsistency and checks for supportive documentation and isaccountable for determining appropriate action.Utilizes an open door policy to acknowledge employee problems orconcerns in a timely manner Ensures employeeissues are referred to the Department Manager for resolution orescalated to the Director of Human Resources/Multi-Property Director of Human Resources.Partners with Loss Prevention to conduct employee accident investigations asnecessary.Communicates performance expectationsin accordance with job descriptions for eachposition.Managing Legal and Compliance Practices Ensures employee files contain required employment paperwork properperformance management and compensation documentation are properlymaintained and secured for the required length oftime.Ensures compliance with procedure foraccessing reviewing and auditing employee files and ensurecompliance with the Privacy Act.Ensures medicalrecords are maintained in a separate secure and confidentialmedical file.Facilitates random reasonablebelief and post accident drug testing process (in properties whereapplicable).Communicates property rules andregulations via the employee handbook.Ensuresall safety and security policies (e.g. property removal lost andfound items blood borne pathogens accident reporting and hygiene)are communicated to employees on a regular basis throughorientation property meetings bulletin boardsetc.Conducts periodic claims reviews with Regional Claims office to ensure claims are closed in a timelymanner and reserve levels are appropriate for openclaims.Represents Human Resources at theproperty Safety Committee; helps to identify ways to createawareness of the importance of safety in the workplace and decreaseaccident frequency and severity.Manages Workers Compensation claims to ensure appropriate employee care and managecosts.Oversees the selection/non-selection andoffers processes to ensure proper procedures are followed (e.g.valid reasons for selection/non-selection and applicants receivestatusnotifications).At Marriott International we arededicated to being an equal opportunity employer welcoming all andproviding access to opportunity.
