We are committed to excellence and customer satisfaction, establishing us as a trusted industry partner.Job details Title: Workshop Engineer Reports to: Workshop Foreman Hours: Full-Time, Permanent Location: Midlands, UKJob Purpose We seek a skilled Workshop Engineer to join our maintenance team, focusing on overhaul and major repairs of our rental generator fleet and customer-owned equipment. The role is hands-on, ideal for someone with a mechanical background in diesel engine repairs and power generation equipment.Key Responsibilities Diagnose, fault-find, and analyze issues on diesel generators (20k VA to 2000k VA).Perform major overhauls, including engine, alternator, and control panel repairs.Complete planned and unplanned maintenance to ensure generators are rental-ready.Repair customer-owned generators within agreed timelines and budgets.Maintain detailed service records.Collaborate with Asset Management to prioritize repairs.Follow health and safety protocols and maintain a tidy workspace.Test and commission generators post-repair.Adhere to ISO 9001: 2015 standards and contribute to continuous improvement.Skills and Experience Experience in mechanical and electrical repair of diesel generators or similar equipment.Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant trade certification.Knowledge of generator control systems and diagnostics.Ability to interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Familiarity with rental industry standards is advantageous.Preferred Qualifications Experience with brands like FG Wilson, Perkins, Cummins, or Caterpillar.Knowledge of remote monitoring and telematics systems.Forklift certification (advantageous).What We Offer23 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service.Competitive salary.Development and progression opportunities.Company pension scheme.Private medical scheme.Life assurance and wellbeing support.Our Philosophy We promote diversity and equal opportunity, ensuring fair employment decisions without discrimination.
