Director of Engineering

A Director of Engineering will manage the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations, ensuring safety, security, conservation, and compliance at the highest levels. What will I be doing? As Director of Engineering, you are responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation. You will also oversee the development of the Engineering Team and stay updated on compliance regulations relevant to hotel standards. Specifically, your tasks will include: Leading the Engineering Team in daily engineering and maintenance operations, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules. Coordinating with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance activities for guest rooms and public areas. Developing systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and team members, and the proper functioning of plants, machinery, and property. Communicating with government agencies to ensure full regulatory compliance. Preparing budgets for Capital Expenditures and Repairs & Maintenance for the Engineering Department. Performing daily inspections around the hotel. Conducting lift emergency release procedures as needed. Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment. Building and maintaining good relationships with internal and external customers. Ensuring all hotel fixtures and fittings are safe and taking action on unsafe conditions. Developing and implementing emergency response programs. Managing energy conservation initiatives to reduce expenses. Overseeing renovation projects, including bidding, scope definition, and supervising contractors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. Handling special projects and other assigned responsibilities. Introducing environmentally friendly systems and equipment. Monitoring Key Performance Indicators for the department and implementing corrective actions to improve performance. Managing all team member activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career development, disciplinary actions, and motivation.
