Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.-Interact professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care giving significance to patients verbal and nonverbal messages.-Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.-Consult other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.-Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.-Document on patient record as per current standards and policies.-Manage and operates equipment safely and correctly.-To be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.-Infection Control - minimizes the acquisition and transmission of infectious agents, practice waste management and proper disinfection.-Resuscitation - administers emergency measures to sustain life.-Patient Rights Protection - protects the health care rights of a patient, especially a minor, incapacitated, or incompetent patient unable to make decisions.-Consults with staff dentists regarding design, set up or fitting of devices.-Assure adequate inventory of supplies and requisitions supplies and equipment as necessary.-Maintains complete and accurate records of all work performed.-Follows all related policies and procedures.-Performs other related duties as assigned.-Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, including setting up the dental surgical equipment-Provide chairside support to the operator during treatment-Provide good customer care and communicate effectively with respect and empathy. Communicate appropriately and clearly to physicians, nurses and co-workers.-Prepare the patient before dental treatment with knowledge of the procedure, equipment and dental materials required.-Record patient's medical history, vital sign and pain assessment if needed.-Support in dental charting and oral tissue assessment carried out by dentist-Assist the dentist effectively and efficiently to facilitate timely and quality workflow.-Monitor, support and reassure patients and give appropriate advice-Support patient and colleagues if there is a medical emergency-Participate in oral health education and oral health promotion-Prepare, mix and safe handle dental materials-Follow defined protocols on correct use, storage and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous dental materials according to manufacturer's guidelines.-Order dental consumables, and maintain accurate clinic inventory both for dental equipment and instruments- Interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)-Take an accurate dental impression with detailed reproduction of required margins and oral replica-Assist in orthodontic procedures (based on previous experience and competence).-Assist in laser technology for dental treatment and bleaching procedures.-Assist in the treatment of patients with special needs-Ensure documented reports are kept up to date on dental equipment testing in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.-Maintain up to date knowledge and skills through Health Education activities related to dental assisting-Adhere to infection prevention (control) procedures to prevent physical, chemical and microbiological contamination in the clinical setting-Ensure all dental instruments used for patient care are cleaned and sterilized (through knowledge on instrument sterilization, chemical indicators, and validity of sterility condition).-Prepare equipment, materials and patients for dental radiography-Take intra oral and extra oral digital X-rays based on the prescription of a dentist – following completion of supervised training and competency on dental radiology and radiation safety procedures by RPO.-Comply with government regulations on radiation safety as set out by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR)-Take Intra and extra-oral photography Desired Candidate Profile Qualifications Required Diploma in Dental Assistant or BSc in Nursing Experience1-2 Years Experience in Orthodontics Department is a must Disclaimer: Naukrigulf.com is only a platform to bring jobseekers & employers together.
