Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

Overview The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time faculty position. Qualified candidates at all levels will be considered at a rank commensurate with academic accomplishments. We are seeking a candidate to build a reputable independent research program in Aerospace Structure & Design. In this area, we are particularly interested in high-performance aerospace hybrid materials and structural systems, multidisciplinary design optimization, structural health monitoring of lightweight structures, composite materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques for aerospace applications. Other sub-areas of expertise within this general area will also be considered. The successful candidate will develop and lead a sustainable, innovative, independent research program, publish impactful research in top-ranked, field-related refereed journals, and build reputation nationally and internationally to elevate UAEU's international standing. The candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and education, including developing courses to enhance our undergraduate and graduate programs, mentoring students, and advising undergraduate students. Successful candidates will have access to advanced laboratory facilities, opportunities for internal research funding, and collaboration with Centers of Excellence. English is the language of instruction and communication. The start date for this position is August 2024 or January 2025. Responsibilities Develop and lead a sustainable, innovative independent research program in Aerospace Structure & Design. Publish impactful research in top-ranked refereed journals and build national and international reputation. Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and education, including developing courses and mentoring students. Advise undergraduate and graduate students and participate in program development. Collaborate with Centers of Excellence and take advantage of internal research funding opportunities. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field from an internationally recognized university at the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. Research track record commensurate with the rank applied for. Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Preferred Qualifications B.Sc./B.Eng. degree in Aerospace Engineering (preferred). Industrial and professional experience is a plus. Expertise in Aerospace Structure & Design with emphasis on high-performance hybrid materials, structural systems, multidisciplinary design optimization, structural health monitoring of lightweight structures, composite materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques for aerospace applications.
