Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment Specialist
Description
The SH&E Advisor will be responsible for assisting with identifying SH&E requirements. They should be able to assess and monitor compliance with local SH&E legislative and regulatory obligations, as well as project and AECOM business requirements.Role and Responsibilities Serve as the field/project point of contact for SH&E matters.Identify AECOM, project, and legislative requirements and ensure stakeholder compliance.Conduct daily inspections of contractor activities to ensure compliance with SH&E policies, plans, and obligations.Perform daily visual inspections, report issues, and submit observation findings via the project reporting system. Follow up on close-outs within established timeframes.Coordinate and attend site SH&E meetings, including chairing and recording if required.Submit safety inspection reports to the Resident Engineer and project leads, engaging their support.Review risk mitigation documents such as plans, procedures, and Safe Work Method Statements.Verify that method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures submitted by contractors meet safety standards.Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of safety equipment.Check site security, fire safety, first aid, and welfare facilities, ensuring they are adequate and maintained.Assist in investigating incidents and near misses, reporting according to client and AECOM procedures, and implementing preventative measures.Set a high personal example of health & safety practices.Provide regular reports to the Project and SH&E Leads.Attend risk assessment training and request additional relevant training as needed.Qualifications Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or related field, NEBOSH GC, or proven equivalent.At least 5 years of relevant experience.Additional Information About AECOMAECOM offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, paid time off, leaves, voluntary benefits, flexible work options, well-being resources, employee assistance, travel insurance, service recognition, retirement plans, and stock purchase plans.As a global infrastructure leader, AECOM delivers sustainable solutions in water, environment, energy, transportation, and buildings.
