Job Purpose / Objective: The Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Reliability Engineer is responsible for applying acquired knowledge and experience to develop methods and processes that prevent or reduce the likelihood of failures in I&E systems and assets. The role aims to enhance the reliability and safety of I&E equipment by implementing effective strategies.Key Accountabilities: People Management: Advise and assist I&E Engineers, electricians, instrument technicians, and production supervisors on complex electrical and instrument repairs and troubleshooting methodologies.Foster a harmonious work environment to promote teamwork and cooperation within the I&E Reliability Section.Provide required technical support for matters requiring higher-level expertise and consultation.Instrument & Electrical Assets Integrity: Develop and implement reliability strategies using techniques like Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PPM), and other industry-standard reliability techniques to analyze I&E equipment failures and create cost-effective strategies for safe and reliable operation.Implement Mechanical Integrity & Quality Assurance best practices, working with relevant departments to develop and execute Quality Assurance (QA) practices and assess their effectiveness.Proactively identify I&E equipment reliability issues and develop engineering solutions for chronic and sporadic problems in collaboration with technical, production, and maintenance teams.Lead reliability improvement initiatives through Reliability Improvement Teams (RITs).Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify failure modes and recommend strategies to improve equipment reliability.Review RCA reports, criticality studies, equipment strategies, and risk assessments to ensure consistency and compliance with company procedures and policies.Evaluate facility incidents affecting reliability and ensure appropriate RCAs are conducted. Assist in tracking RCA findings and completing actions in a timely manner.Develop Instrumented Protective Systems (IPS) work processes to comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., IEC61511/ISA 84) and company standards (e.g., RMS 5700).Oversee the development of engineering calculations and drawings such as Single Line Diagrams, Schematic Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Interconnection drawings, loop drawings, and Instrument data sheets.Prepare technical inquiries to vendors, participate in technical evaluations of bids, review vendor drawings and documents, and ensure equipment specifications meet design requirements and budgets.Review equipment specifications and designs to ensure reliability objectives are met. Act as a technical adviser for capital projects and turnarounds.Participate in MOCs and PSSRs for new installations to ensure compliance with functional specifications.Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in RCFA investigations, providing expertise to RCA teams as needed.Review and optimize ITPMs for critical I&E equipment (MICE).Drive consistency in I&E equipment design across the site, ensuring consistency in maintenance strategies.Provide communication to area resources regarding improvement projects.Provide input on projects to ensure design and reliability considerations are addressed.Provide guidelines to Maintenance teams to ensure adherence to Life Cycle Asset Management processes for new and existing assets.Champion continuous improvement by fostering relationships across plant functions to focus on quality.Policies, Systems, Processes, and Procedures: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in departmental systems, policies, processes, and practices, incorporating international best practices to improve productivity and operational efficiency.Contribute to the development of I&E Reliability Section systems, policies, processes, and procedures to meet business requirements.Ensure team compliance with all I&E Reliability Section policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions.Reporting: Prepare reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet departmental requirements and standards.Assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring reliability projects and activities are completed on time and within budget.Report incidents and near misses and participate in investigations as required.Quality, Health, Security, Safety, and Environment: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security, and environmental procedures to guarantee employee safety and high-quality service delivery.Requirements Qualifications & Experience: For Electrical Reliability Engineers: Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or Engineering Technology.Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.Experience: Required: 5-7 years of experience in Electrical equipment and systems maintenance and technical support, preferably in a process industry, with at least 4 years in a similar role.Preferred: Experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.Languages: Required: Proficiency in English.Preferred: Working knowledge of Arabic.Other Job Specific Requirements: In-depth knowledge of protection and control systems for large process plants, including high and medium voltage systems (132/33/6k V).Solid understanding of electrical protection system design and intelligent protection relays.Experience in failure mode & effect analysis and understanding of failure mechanisms in electrical equipment.Troubleshooting expertise and the ability to independently resolve engineering problems.Familiarity with IEC and IEEE standards or other recognized standards.Knowledge of ETAP and other system modeling and analysis tools is an advantage.Experience performing load flow & short circuit studies, relay discrimination, and coordination studies for industrial electrical distribution systems.Familiarity with CMMS (preferably SAP).For Instrumentation Reliability Engineers: Education: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.Experience: Required: 5-7 years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls maintenance and technical support, preferably in a process industry, with at least 4 years in a similar role.Preferred: Experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.Languages: Required: Proficiency in English.Preferred: Working knowledge of Arabic.Other Job Specific Requirements: Experience with design and maintenance of plant instrumentation, control valves, safety instrumented systems, and process safety management programs.Functional Safety Certification (FS Eng) preferred.Hands-on experience using Ex SILentia software is a plus.Knowledge of international standards related to instrumentation and control design and maintenance, including IEC, ISA, FCI, and functional safety standards (IEC61511/ISA 84).Experience in failure mode & effect analysis and a solid understanding of failure mechanisms for instruments in a process industry.Troubleshooting expertise and ability to independently resolve engineering problems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
